'Utopia': Meet Sasha Lane, Rainn Wilson, John Cusack and rest of the cast of Amazon Prime's thriller series
The 'Utopia' remake has been a long time in the works. The cast list for the show was announced as far back as 2015, but was recently updated in 2019. The series follows a group of comic book fans running from assassins who are trying to prevent anyone from reading the new 'Utopia' graphic novel, which contains clues to uncover a global pandemic conspiracy. We take a look at some of the main cast members in the lead-up to the show.
Sasha Lane
Sasha Lane plays Jessica Hyde, the protagonist of the comics who appears mysteriously in real life, searching for her missing father. Jessica Hyde takes it upon herself to keep the targeted comic book fans safe. Sasha Lane was one of the first of the new cast to be announced, and is known for her work on 'Hellboy', 'Daniel Isn't Real' and her debut film from 2016, 'American Honey'.
Rainn Wilson
Rainn Wilson plays Michael Stearns, a downtrodden, neglected scientist that ends up drawn into the conspiracy surrounding 'Utopia'. Rainn Wilson is most famously known for his long-running role as Dwight Schrute on 'The Office'. He has also appeared in 'Backstrom', 'My Super Ex-Girlfriend' and has done voice work for several animated series and films, most notably as Lex Luthor for several DC Animated films such as 'The Death of Superman' and 'Justice League Dark: Apokolips War'.
John Cusack
John Cusack plays Dr Kevin Christie, an original character created for the remake to further explore the global conspiracy side of the story. John Cusack is a familiar face in Hollywood films, having made his fame as early as the 1980s with films like 'Sixteen Candles' and 'The Sure Thing'. He's also starred in such films as 'Serindipity', 'Say Anything' and 'High Fidelity'.
Dan Byrd
Dan Byrd plays Ian, an IT consultant and a comic book fan who is well in over his head. Dan Byrd is a comedic actor known for his roles on 'Cougar Town', 'Aliens in America' and 'Clubhouse'.
The series also stars Avon Walton as Grant, Cory Michael Smith as Thomas Christie, Ashleigh LaThrop as Becky, Desmin Borges as Wilson Wilson and Farrah Mackenzie as Alice. All episodes of 'Uptopia' Season 1 arrive on Amazon Prime on September 25.
