LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Set in the year 2052, AMC's newest science fiction drama, 'Orphan Black: Echoes,' has captured viewers' interest owing to its intriguing principles and ability to preserve mystery.

Sharing the same univers as the 2013 blockbuster hit programme 'Orphan Black,' the show follows a clone's journey to unover the truth behind her past, and while doing so, she discovers some disturbing truths that make her question her existence even more.

Anna Fishko's creative brainchild, 'Orphan Black: Echoes' digs into the subject of what it means to be human in the era of bioengineering, a concept that viewers of the first series found appealing.

Lucy is introduced as the show's protagonist in the first episode of the thriller series, whose origins are intricately linked to the convoluted realm of cloning technology. She awakens in an Additive Foundation's science lab, where Dr. Kira Manning (Keeley Hawes) attempts to have a discussion with her.

Lucy, who has amnesia, flees the lab after discovering that she is a printed clone and begins living her life in the countryside, where she develops a romantic relationship with Jack (Avan Jogia) and a deep bond with his deaf daughter Charlie (Zariella Langford-Haughton).

However, her apparently peaceful life is disrupted when one of the Additive Foundation's thugs locates and confronts her, forcing her to face her foes and find the truth about her existence.

As the plot progresses, Lucy struggles with her identity and purpose, dealing with the consequences of her creation while finding her past.

Lucy was developed by none other than Dr. Kira Manning, as the first episode itself reveals.

The thriller show, which shares the same universe as the hit Canadian show 'Orphan Black', depicts Dr. Kira, Sarah Manning's (Tatiana Maslany) daughter, as a respected scientist who has made significant advances in the field of printed organs, a technology teased in the original series.

The fact that when Lucy wakes up and Kira is the first person she is introduced to is more than enough to demonstrate that Kira engineered Lucy, which is supported by the following scenario in which Kira tells Lucy the truth about her being a clone.

What was the purpose behind Lucy's creation in 'Orphan Black: Echoes'?

Although the true cause of Lucy's creation is unknown, we may hypothesize about it.

Kira was already a successful scientist who pioneered printed organs and perhaps Lucy symbolises the next phase in her studies—a fully working, four-dimensional model of a human person.

Furthermore, the original 'Orphan Black' dealt with the Dyad Institute's cloning effort and Kira may have utilised this technology via research and used it to create Lucy.

The exact reason for Lucy's creation is a crucial mystery in the series, and we can anticipate it to be revealed as the narrative unfolds, which will further give viewers greater insight into Kira's intentions.
