LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hulu's latest true-crime series, 'Under the Bridge', delves into one of the most chilling events in Canadian history that shook the nation to its core.

As intriguing as the series' plotlines appear, its most disturbing aspect is that it is based on a true murder case in which teenagers violently tormented a girl, ultimately leading to her death.

The show chronicles Reena Virk's horrific bullying, which ultimately led to her death.

Later, the accusers were arrested, and Warren Paul Glowatski, a primary suspect, was charged with second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.

Warren Paul Glowatski was a teenager who was a key suspect in the murder case of Reena Virk, alongside Kelly Ellard.

It was discovered that Virk had been severely beaten and tortured after being taken under a bridge by a group of youths known as the Shoreline Six.

The initial assault was only halted when a member of the group pleaded with the others to stop.

Later, Virk managed to walk away but was intercepted by Kelly and Glowatski, who dragged her to the other side of the bridge, where she was subjected to further beatings and ultimately drowned.

In June 1999, Glowatski and Kelly were charged with second-degree murder, and they were ultimately sentenced to life in prison for the drowning of Virk.

As Glowatski was 16 at the time of the crime, he became eligible for parole after serving seven years of his life sentence.

It established that Glowatski accepted responsibility for his involvement in the murder case and expressed deep regret for his actions.

When he petitioned for his first parole in November 2004, Virk's parents, Manjit and Suman Virk, did not object, as they were satisfied that he accepted responsibility for his crimes.

However, his initial application was denied. He appealed for day parole in December 2006, which was granted to him in June 2007.

During his incarceration, Glowatski discovered his Métis heritage, connecting him to the indigenous community in Canada.

His Métis ancestry contributed to his eligibility for full parole, which he was granted in June 2010.
