'Under Paris' Ending Explained: Breathless ending drops major hints at globe-spanning sequel

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The murky depths of the Seine River are home to a fearsome shark named Lilith in the latest Netflix film, titled 'Under Paris'.
The film, directed by Xavier Gens, follows a thrilling and suspenseful narrative where marine researcher Sophia (Bérénice Bejo), who has been traumatized by the past, is forced to confront her trauma as Lilith, the monstrous shark, finds its way into the Seine River in Paris.
As the film progresses, Sophia and police officer Adil Faez (Nassim Lyes) attempt to persuade the mayor (Anne Marivin) to postpone the forthcoming triathlon, but the mayor, displaying the true features of a politician, refuses, jeopardizing hundreds of lives.
To add to the already terrifying predicament, Sophia realizes that Lilith is the first of a brand new species capable of reproducing without the assistance of any male counterpart.
Sophia, Adil, and his team decide to take matters into their own hands to battle Lilith's lethal strikes after realizing the threat hovering over Paris.
Lilith miraculously survives the explosive threat in 'Under Paris'
Sophia and Adil's crew decide to blow the nest in the crypt with the assistance of explosive experts Pioccard (Stéphane Jacquot) and Berruti (Jean-Marc Bellu).
While the rest of Paris celebrated, Sophia and her crew were busy to combat the dangerous situation, knowing that they needed to manage the issue before the triathlon swimmers entered the Seine.
However, things swiftly take a drastic turn as Sophia, Adil, and Adama (Ibrahima Ba) understand they are faced with hundreds of sharks capable of destroying the entire city.
Pioccard was about to click the button to detonate the explosives when sharks attacked him, killing him on the spot. Sophia advised Adil and Adama not to make any unexpected moves, but Adama endangered his life by turning on the explosive, which resulted in his death.
Sophia brings Adil, who was struggling to cope with the catastrophe, to the surface. While they thought they had killed Lilith, Sophia learns she is still alive and topples Adil, Caro (Sandra Parfait), and Markus' (Marvin Dubart) boat.
Amidst the turmoil, Sophia observes Lilith swimming in the direction of the swimmers.
Lilith wreaks havoc in 'Under Paris'
Lilith attacked the swimmers right away, which is observed by the spectators, causing chaos to ensue. The military begins firing randomly.
The local police warned the military to stop the shooting as the river held shells that could be activated by the firing, but they ignored the advice. As a result, live shells in the Seine began to explode, destroying bridges and causing water to overflow.
People raced for their lives and were devoured by the flash floods. With everything submerged, there was little prospect of survival. Sophia looked for Adil and was relieved to locate him, even though his condition was critical.
In the final minutes of the film, Adil inquires whether they were successful in containing the mayhem; Sophia does not respond, and the camera pans to reveal that the entire city of Paris has been drowned, with hundreds of sharks wandering freely.
