'House of Payne' Season 9 Episode 14: Jasmine's vape pen and weed take centerstage, fans say 'it's not crack'

The show positions Jasmine's vaping as a serious issue, but fans are not that concerned, either believing it's not hers or that weed isn't that serious a drug

There comes a time in every child's life when their parents need to sit down with them and have "The Talk". No, not THAT one — the other one — the one about drugs. On the latest episode of 'Tyler Perry's House of Payne', it was Janine's (Demetria McKinney) and CJ's (Allen Payne) turn to have that talk with Jasmine (China Anne McClain) after they found a vape pen and weed mints in her pocket.

On the latest episode of 'House of Payne', Janine and CJ have a difficult conversation to plan out, between planning out a birthday party for their Aunt Ella (Cassi Davis Patton). Janine, of course, is worried that this might be her fault, given her own history with drug abuse, making this talk one mingled with as much apprehension as there is anger, disappointment and worry.

Before they have a chance to talk to Jasmine, however, Ella herself makes an appearance to plan her own surprise birthday (unaware that her husband already started planning the same thing).

All Ella's plans for her birthday are forgotten when she sees the vape pen, however — with her work at the help center, no one knows more than Ella just how harmful vape pens and marijuana's addictive properties can be to young teenagers. The episode ends before CJ and Janine can talk to Jasmine, the Payne family are very concerned about what could be happening with Jasmine. Fans online, however, are somewhat less worried.

Most believe that it is going to turn out that the vape pen doesn't belong to Jasmine in the first place. "I think that might belong to that boy Jazzy talking to," writes one fan, online. "I don't think it's Jazzy. It's probably her bf or a friend," writes another.

Other fans, however, believe that smoking weed isn't that big of a deal, especially given that, with the show's timeline, Jasmine should technically be old enough to be able to smoke whatever she wants to if it's as harmless as a little weed. "They really mad at Jazmine for smoking weed... this may be my last episode," writes one incredulous fan.

"Bruh weed is not comparable to crack," writes a viewer, in response to Janine's comparisons to her own history of addiction. "Technically Jasmine should be in her 20s so technically she should be to vape if she wants too," says this fan.

We're going to have to wait until next episode, however, to find out just how much trouble Jasmine's actually in and whether or not the weed and vape pen is actually hers to begin with. The next episode of 'House of Payne' airs on November 4 at 8 pm on BET.
