'Tyler Perry's House of Payne' Season 7: Meet LaVan Davis, Cassi Davis Patton and rest of the cast of the BET comedy
The seventh season of 'Tyler Perry's House of Payne' will premiere on BET early September, along with a new series titled 'Tyler Perry's Assisted Living.' 'House of Payne' is a hit series, one of Perry's long-running sitcoms that has garnered an intense fan base. Here is all you need to know about the original cast returning to the small screen in less than a week.
LaVan Davis as Curtis Payne
Davis is known for his role as family patriarch from 'House of Payne' to most, but his other notable works include 'Black Dynamite' (2009) and 'Puff, Puff, Pass' (2006). In 2008 and 2009, Davis won a Image Award (NAACP) for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in 'House of Payne.' Then there is 'Beach Demons' (2005), 'Daddy's Little Girls' (2007), 'Everybody Hates Chris' (2005-2007), 'Meet the Browns' (2009) and 'The Paynes' (2018).
Cassi Davis Patton as Ella Payne
Patton is known for her roles as Aunt Bam in the Tyler Perry Madea productions such as 'A Madea Family Funeral' (2019), 'Madea's Big Happy Family' (2011), and 'Boo! A Madea Halloween' (2016). In 2010 and 2013, Davis won an Image Award (NAACP) for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for her roles in 'House of Payne.' Her other works include 'Meet the Browns' (2009), 'Daddy's Little Girls' (2007), 'The Paynes' (2018), and 'Act of Faith' (2014).
Lance Gross as Calvin Payne
Gross is known for his roles as Daniel Reynolds from 'Sleepy Hollow' (2015-2016), Brice from 'Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor' (2013), and Billy Colton from 'MacGyver' (2017-2019). In 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2013, Gross won an Image Award (NAACP) for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for 'House of Payne.' Demetria McKinney as Janine Payne
McKinney is known for her roles as Anacostia Quartermain from 'Fort Salem' (2020), Trina from 'Why Did I Get Married' (2006), and June Pointer from 'American Soul' (2020). In 2008 she was nominated for a Prism Award for Performance in a Comedy Series for 'House of Payne' and in 2009 she was nominated for a NAMIC Vision Award for Best Performance - Comedy for the same production. Her most recent works include 'Saints & Sinners' (2016-2019), 'The Quad' (2017-2018), 'A Stone Cold Christmas' (2018), 'A House Divided' (2019-2020) and 'American Soul' (2020).
China Anne McClain as Jazmine Payne
McClain is known for her roles as Chyna Parks from 'A.N.T Farm' (2011-2014), Charlotte McKenzie from 'Grown Ups' (2010), and Uma from 'Descendants 2' (2017). In 2011 McClain won a NAMIC Vision Award from Best Performance - Comedy for 'House Of Payne' and in 2014 she won two awards for 'A.N.T Farm' - a NAMIC Vision Award for Best Performance - Comedy and Image Awards (NAACP) for Outstanding Performance in a Youth/Children's Program.
Keshia Knight Pulliam as Miranda
Pulliam is known for her roles as Rudy Huxtable from 'The Cosby Show' (1984-1992) and 'A Different World' (1987-1988), and Candance Washington from 'Madea Goes to Jail' (2009). Her recent roles include '3 Year Plan' (2018), 'Jingle Belle' (2018), 'Radio Christmas' (2019), and 'Tempted by Danger' (2020). She has two releases in post-production - 'Redeemed' and 'My Brother's Keeper.' In 2009, 2010 and 2012, Pulliam won Image Awards (NAACP) for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for 'House of Payne.'
Allen Payne as CJ Payne
Payne is known for his roles as Gee Money from 'New Jack City' (1991), Alfred Pierre from 'The Perfect Storm' (2000), Dead Mike from 'CB4' (1993) and Detective Justice from 'Vampire in Brooklyn' (1995). In 2002 he was nominated for a Black Reel Award for Theatrical- Best Independent Actor for 'Blue Hill Avenue' (2001) where he played the role of Tristan. His other works include 'All of Us' (2004), 'CSY: NY' (2004), 'Crossover' (2006), and most recently 'California Love' which is in post-production.
The official synopsis reads, "'Tyler Perry's House of Payne,' returning for its seventh season, is a hilarious comedy about retired fire chief Curtis Payne (LaVan Davis) and his lovely wife Ella (Cassi Davis Patton) that picks up five years later, as they continue to navigate the problems of life with their quirky modern-day family."
The trailer for the series upcoming season is yet to be released, but BET has released a promo for it along with that of a new series titled 'Tyler Perry's Assisted Living.'
