'Treadstone' Episode 7 promo confirms Petra was programmed as a Cicada, SoYun and Doug continue struggle against being controlled

In the promo of episode 7, Petra, in the present, is having a full-blown argument with a man, who we can assume is Yuri. In this argument, the man tells her that during the time she worked on the Cicada Protocol, she was also programmed and this could explain why Petra killed her husband Oleg

In 'Treadstone' Episode 6, we saw John Bentley (James Irvine) being recaptured by Petra (Emilia Schule) after he recalled everything about being under KGB's control. He now remembers everything the KGB had him do when he was under their control, and also his relationship with Petra.

In the promo of episode 7, we see John back in the torture seat and this time he knows what will happen to him if he doesn't escape. He is visibly frustrated and also angry at Petra and that anger spews into hatred.

Petra now has to deal with a Cicada who has gone rogue, but she cannot possibly remove him from the equation because she is clearly attached. We also saw how she has always pushed for John to remain as part of the Cicada Protocol even while the head researcher of the project did not find him acceptable as a candidate. For how long can Petra keep John safe from Yuri?

Petra (Gabrielle Scharnitzky) in the present is having a full-blown argument with a man, who we can assume is Yuri. Last we saw her, she killed a Russian agent to find Yuri's location.

In this argument, the man tells her that during the time she worked on the Cicada Protocol, she was also programmed and this could explain why Petra killed her husband Oleg when he chanced upon the missile hidden in their farm.

In the present, we will see SoYun (Han Hyo-joo) and Doug McKenna (Brian J Smith) try and get away from the people controlling them. So far, one of the things never clarified in the show was if all of the agents were being woken up by one person.

For instance, Doug was in Louisville, Kentucky, last we saw him. When he followed the man who approached him claiming to be connected to the project, he found this operation goes way beyond what he can perceive.

SoYun, on the other hand, is in Pyongyang, North Korea. She was woken up by Colonel Shin, and for now, there is no connection between Colonel Shin and the men who are controlling Doug. The brain behind waking up these agents is someone we haven't met yet. There is more to Operation Treadstone than what we have seen so far.

There are two people who are currently working on learning the truth about Treadstone and the nuclear missile Stiletto Six. Agent Matt Edwards (Omar Metwally) and investigative reporter Tara Coleman (Tracy Ifeachor).

Matt is with Haynes and until now he has been on the hunt for the person who woke Haynes up. He had hoped to find some information from her. However, in the same episode, we saw Haynes (Patrick Fugit) kill her during a shootout and Matt's seemingly last lead disappeared.

Tara, on the other hand, is tracking down Stiletto Six. The nuclear missile is currently hidden at Petra's farm in Russia and North Korea is currently trying to buy it on the black market.

Tracy got access to funds through General Kwon (Tzi Ma) and is now funding her investigation into the deal with the money. She is now on Yuri's trail, and in the fifth episode of the show, we saw her get two other reporters from Ghana to help her with the investigation.

'Treadstone' episode 7 will air on Tuesday at 10 pm ET on USA Network.
