Spoilers for ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: If you are well versed in the ‘Transformers’ franchise, then you probably already know that ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ serves as a sequel to ‘Bumblebee’ which was released in 2018. ‘Bumblebee’ was a largely successful part of the franchise, and it quickly became a fan favorite, which meant that the bar was set high for ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ ahead of its release.

Now that ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ is out in theaters, fans can’t help but compare the latest movie to ‘Bumblebee', despite the difference in the premise. It also doesn’t help that Bumblebee the Autobot didn’t get enough screen time in 'Transformers: Rise of the Beasts'. The comparisons and critiques have begun but can ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ do better than ‘Bumblebee’?

‘Not nearly as good as Bumblebee’

Fans have taken over Twitter to discuss whether ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ was better than ‘Bumblebee’ as one tweet reads, “#TransformersRiseoftheBeasts , meh. If you've seen one Transformers film, you've seen them all. This was like, better than the last couple Bay ones but not nearly as good as Bumblebee. So, just alright, I guess.” Another fan adds on to the comparison while praising certain aspects of the movie as they write, “#TransformersRiseoftheBeasts - not as good as Bumblebee but way better than The Last Knight. Still bummed Garry Chalk didn’t voice Primal. I’d’ve liked more out of the Maximals (especially Rhinox). Pete Davidson was my favorite part. I wonder if the ending will amount to anything.” Viewers are largely agreeing that while the latest ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ wasn’t as good as ‘Bumblebee’ it was better than the rest as one fan writes, “Saw #TransformersRiseoftheBeasts and thought it was good! Not as good as Bumblebee but better than the previous Transformers movies….”

Fans are also paying attention to the specifics of the two movies as they are compared. One fan tweets, “Idk the specifics of CGI choreography but the action in Bumblebee was more slick and noticeable than the action in #TransformersRiseoftheBeasts.” Fans remain conflicted about their thoughts regarding the recent movie as another writes, “#TransformersRiseofTheBeasts (aka TF: The Rise of Anthony Ramos) might be the most aggressively OK film I've ever seen, a movie that tries to do what the Michael Bay sequels did but better, and just winds up not being as good as Bumblebee. At least the Maximals talk.” The general consensus remains that ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ was good, but nothing compared to ‘Bumblebee’ as a fan sums up this feeling and writes, “#TransformersRiseoftheBeasts has excellently crafted, coherent set pieces. Visual effects were strong and love where the franchise is heading…**SPOILER**. I am finally re-energized with the franchise. Not as good as #BumbleBee - but much better than any of the other sequels.”
