Spoilers for 'Tommy' Episode 8 ‘The Swatting Game’

‘The Swatting Game’ of the hit CBS crime procedural 'Tommy', was an intense episode to say the least which explored racial discrimination and sexual bias. Usually, such social issues are always outside Chief Abigail Thomas’s (Tommy) home, but, not in Episode 8. Amid the chase to track down a cybercriminal and dealing with anonymous hackers, Tommy’s daughter, Kate got harassed and arrested by the police.

Using the allowance of only one call, she reaches out to her husband and this has upset the fans like never before.

A Twitter fan disappointedly comments,“Kate is so stubborn it pisses me off. She called Henry instead of her mom when she got arrested. Why? He's a loser anyway. Letting her stubbornness get in the way of just getting out of jail. Annoying. #Tommy”

Those who aren’t aware should know that Henry, Kate’s husband, has been involved in a prostitution racket, which Tommy was working on. While solving a kidnapping case, she discovered that a massage parlor was a front for Chinese sex workers and her own son-in-law was a regular client. When she told her daughter, Kate about this, they had a big fight and argument, which even led Tommy to stay out of home.

At that time, fans were tired of the mother-daughter drama and wanted this family feud to be over. But with the latest episode, things just got worse.

When held in police custody she reaches out to her husband who doesn’t even bother to answer her call, when she should have been calling her mother, who is the Chief of Police and is in a better position to help her out.

“Really Kate you call your useless husband over your mom the Chief #Tommy #TommyCBS”, comments a fan who sees Kate making the mistake. Another fan on Twitter outright calls out on Kate saying, “Tommy’s daughter is the worst! #Tommy”

Eventually, she does realize her mistake and the day is saved. Kate Jones and Tommy’s relationship has always been strained as we have seen from the beginning and perhaps this situation will bring them closer.

‘Tommy’ airs every Thursday night at 10pm/9c, only on CBS.
