‘Tommy’ star Vladimir Caamano says show to continue running during Coronavirus shutdown, hopes for a Season 2
It is indeed a tough time for the world, as nations reel under the disaster caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Industries, jobs, social life, etc. continue to suffer. Our very own entertainment business is also not spared.
Majority of the hit television shows have gone on sudden breaks, stopped production of upcoming episodes or have discontinued production until further notice. However, some shows continue to go on. Take CBS’s ‘Tommy’ for instance. The crime procedural drama, featuring Edie Falco, Russell G Jones, Vladimir Caamano, Thomas Sadoski, among many others, will be airing scheduled episodes of its first season, as per initial order.
We got into a candid conversation with the show’s star, Vladimir Caamano, who plays the role of Abner Diaz, Abigail Thomas’s (Edie Falco) chief security officer and a former detective.
We wanted to understand where the show stands in the current scenario and what does the future hold? "Well, we don’t know yet, with everything that is going on right now. But I am very optimistic for it. I think that with a lot of great people working on this, and the kind of current technology and the people involved, I have a lot of hope for this whole thing. I think we will be back sooner than later."
Sooner or later? Does that mean the show is going on a break? "As I understand, we will continue to run. We had shot most of the episodes before the pandemic hit. So, we are on a regular schedule and we are going to run every Thursday night. There will be some reruns of our show, because the network had to cancel some other events and specials. So, we will keep airing and people can watch the previous episodes again."
Vladimir Caamano is a standup artist and an actor, who features as Abner Diaz, chief security detail of Chief of LAPD, Abigail Thomas and a former detective, in the primetime drama.
As for now, the popular primetime drama is on its two-week break and it will soon be back on air and continue as previously scheduled.
‘Tommy’ will be back on air on Thursday, April 2, 2020, at 10pm/9c, only on CBS.
