NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘Today’ meteorologist Al Roker has reportedly revealed Craig Melvin’s whereabouts after the co-host went missing from the NBC show on Monday, August 14.

Melvin didn’t appear in his usual seat as he was busy elsewhere working on a new assignment for the ‘Today’ show.

Earlier last week, Melvin who was missing from the morning show revealed the reason behind his absence in an Instagram post. Melvin was reportedly at Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex in Alabama.

Where is ‘Today’ host Craig Melvin?

On Monday, Roker addressed Melvin’s absence from the ‘Today’ show during the ‘3rd Hour Today’ segment. He hosted the segment alongside co-hosts Dylan Dreyer and Sheinelle Jones.

While on vacation, meteorologist Melvin took a brief pause from his time off to fulfill an important duty.

Earlier in the morning show, it came to light that he sat down in an exclusive interview with newly inducted NBA Hall of Famer, Dwayne Wade.

The program later unveiled excerpts from this conversation, with Melvin elaborating on the details during a video call in the show's ‘3rd Hour’ segment.

Melvin seemed to be in a remote location surrounded by a backdrop of serene woods and trees. Despite not being fully detached from work, Melvin’s recent actions reveal a trend of taking multiple days off.

Why does Craig Melvin continuously miss the ‘Today’ show?

Just this month, observant fans noticed Melvin’s absence shortly after his return from a previous break.

Melvin provided a glimpse of his location through Instagram Stories, sharing snapshots from his time at the Birmingham–Jefferson Convention Complex in Alabama, where he participated in the NBCU Academy event.

The photos depicted the 44-year-old engaging with the audience alongside NBC News president, Rebecca Blumenstein, and executive vice president Libby Leist.

To cover for him during this time, his colleague Jacob Soboroff stepped in for the rest of the week.

The unexpected absence surprised fans as Melvin had just rejoined the daytime TV show, following a break in July for a family vacation.

Last month, viewers got an insight into Melvin’s activities as he, along with Roker and Vicky Nguyen, shared the details.

Melvin expressed his delight saying, “It's good to be back”, and as he conversed with Roker, he recounted his recent vacation experiences.

He narrated the family's enjoyable vacation adding, “We went down last week, me, my younger brother, and my older brothers and all their kids went on vacation, beach, pool, beach, pool.”

Additionally, he mentioned a family tennis outing organized by his wife, Lindsay Czarniak, involving other members of their family.
