NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘Today’ beloved host Savannah Guthrie recently left the NBC show midway on Thursday as she dropped her kids back to school on their ‘first day’. Her absence was reportedly replaced by co-host Craig Melvin.

A similar incident happened with ‘Today’ Hoda Kotb on Wednesday’s episode as she also bailed out from the show on live TV.

While Kotb talked about Princess Diana’s sweaters on sale with her fellow co-hosts Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, and Craig Melvin, she left the segment midway.

Guthrie said, “Hoda, you’re on the run. It’s the first day of school!”

Kotb replied, “Taking my kids to school! Okay, can I leave right now? Bye!”

Savannah Guthrie fulfills mom duty

On Thursday, September 7, ‘Today’ host Savannah Guthrie abruptly left the morning show and was replaced by co-host Craig Melvin.

As Guthrie and Hoda Kotb kicked off the segment, after an hour into the broadcast, Guthrie’s seat was taken over by Melvin.

He usually joins the ladies 30 minutes into the segment, however, he came in early. Also, Al Roker sat with the hosts and talked for a few minutes before reporting on his weather segment.

Guthrie departed from the program approximately 30 minutes into the show, leaving Melvin and Kotb as the sole hosts at the desk.

Melvin informed viewers, "Speaking of special events, Savannah had to leave early. It's her kids' first day of school."

Upon returning from a commercial break about an hour later, Kotb kindly reminded the audience that Guthrie was absent because she was taking her children, Charlie, and Valerie to school.

She offered her warm wishes, saying, "We wish them the best of luck today," accompanied by a cheerful smile.

Guthrie did not make a return for the rest of the show but is likely to be back tomorrow.

Savannah Guthrie’s family vacation

Savannah Guthrie had been absent for a few weeks before returning to the ‘Today’ show this week.

During her absence, she took some time to recover from illness and spent quality family time at the US Open.

Guthrie and her family had the opportunity to enjoy front-row seating at the tennis court and captured the moment with a picture.

In the photo, the daytime TV host wore a joyful smile as she embraced her husband Michael Feldman while their two children beamed beside them.

Guthrie chose a relaxed outfit for the occasion, wearing a lightweight black sweater and jeans, with her hair down and minimal makeup.

She expressed her gratitude in the caption, writing, "Beautiful first night at US Open! Thank you, team."
