NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘Today’ host Craig Melvin reportedly underwent a surprising beauty treatment ahead of his gig for hosting the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony that took place on November 29.

The daytime show host posted a video from his spa treatment in the middle of the day as part of his preparation for a significant work event scheduled for later in the evening.

The spa indulgence came after Carson Daly playfully teased Melvin and Savannah Guthrie over a ‘Christmas cornheads’ outfit.

During a recent episode, the ‘Today’ family presented live from Today Plaza where the audience featured several members dressed in festive holiday costumes, among them a duo adorned with Christmas ornaments but missing their tree topper hats.

In the subsequent segment, both Guthrie and Melvin appeared wearing the Christmas tree toppers, humorously inquiring if they could borrow them for later in the day.

Daly, upon seeing them, couldn't resist making a witty remark. "You look like Christmas coneheads," he quipped, barely containing his laughter.

Craig Melvin’s beauty procedure ahead of big gig

In an Instagram Story clip, Craig Melvin visited the Mario Badescu skin care clinic where he was captured lying on a spa table with a white sheet covering his body and a towel wrapped around the top of his head.

During the spa treatment, a beauty technician applied serums and lotions, leaving the ‘Today’ host's face bare.

Craig Melvin shared the skincare procedure in a caption over the video, mentioning, "Pre-tree lighting facial!"

Subsequently, later that evening, Melvin co-hosted the annual Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony alongside his ‘Today’ co-stars Al Roker, Savannah Guthrie, and Hoda Kotb. The event also featured Kelly Clarkson.

Where is Craig Melvin?

After undergoing the surprising beauty treatment, Craig Melvin went missing from the show without warning on Friday, December 1.

Along with him, Savannah Guthrie was also nowhere to be found.

During the early session of Friday's broadcast, when Hoda Kotb and Guthrie would typically welcome viewers to the show, it was revealed that Guthrie was absent for the day. Willie Geist had been brought in to take her place.

"Hoda announced, "Willie is in for Savannah this morning," as the show began.

Later, during the ‘Today 3rd Hour’, Kotb returned alongside Willie Geist and Sheinelle Jones.

No explanation was provided for the sudden absence of both hosts, and there were no indications of illness as they had been on set recently.

It remains a possibility that both hosts could have been engaged in other projects outside of their roles on the ‘Today’ Show.
