‘Today’ host Craig Melvin claims his ‘brain is not working’ as Al Roker trolls him on air
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘Today’ meteorologist Al Roker and his co-host Craig Melvin often engage in playful teasing, not only entertaining the viewers but also strengthening their friendship. Even recently, the pair again engaged in banter as Roker mocked Melvin for an embarrassing blunder on live TV.
On Tuesday, October 3, ‘Today’ host Melvin snapped at Roker after the weather reporter teased him for mispronouncing a word.
This came after Melvin went missing for five days from the morning show, later revealing that he had tested positive for Covid-19.
Additionally, Melvin and Roker’s low blows at each other have been a subject of conversation among ‘Today’ viewers as the two hosts often take playful jibes at each other.
Even last month, Roker joked around with Melvin during a segment. He reportedly sprayed hand sanitizer on Melvin’s hands as he was not feeling well.
What happened to Craig Melvin?
On a recent ‘Today’ episode, Craig Melvin, Al Roker, and Dylan Dreyer were in conversation with the editor-in-chief of Travel & Leisure magazine, Jacqui Gifford. They all talked about their fall travel plans.
Melvin introduced the segment but he unfortunately messed up along the way.
He kicked off by adding, “Well, it's officially Harvest Season, which makes it the perfect time to plan a little getaway and maybe see some fall foilage.”
Dreyer and Roker were confused, asking, “Foilage?”
Roker then corrected Melvin, saying, “It’s foliage.”
Melvin put his head down and shook it admitting, “Foliage.”
However, Roker couldn't help but troll the co-host on live TV as he said, “Unless you’re related to Reynolds aluminum.”
Melvin, embarrassed, defended himself, “Foliage. Guys, I had Covid for five days. My brain's not working right."
As Roker and Dreyer shared a hearty laugh, Melvin playfully persisted with his introduction, seeking reassurance on his pronunciation. His co-hosts assured him that he had indeed pronounced the words correctly.
However, Melvin added a touch of self-mockery, emphasizing the word "inspiration" in a playful and light-hearted manner.
Craig Melvin’s abrupt absence from ‘Today’
After returning to the ‘Today’ show on Tuesday after a long mysterious absence, Craig Melvin has again gone missing from the morning show.
He revealed on Tuesday, October 3, that the real reason behind his earlier absence was that he tested positive for Covid as he was replaced by beloved co-host Sheinelle Jones.
Jones had been filling in for Melvin for the past week as he battled with Covid. Melvin finally returned to the morning show after recovering from Covid but was absent again the next day. It is not revealed when will Melvin return to the morning show.
