NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘Today’ host Craig Melvin reportedly took out his aggression on air by beating a chicken using a wooden rolling pin during a cooking segment.

The ‘Today’ host welcomed restaurant owner Erin French and the pair showed the rest of the morning show team how to make two of her signature dishes.

While Melvin helped Erin, he playfully lost his cool after slamming the rolling pin on the chicken.

This came after Melvin had a continued series of on-air antics. Earlier this month, he accidentally broke off the arm of a large Halloween pumpkin character decoration, Lewis.

The ‘Today’ official Instagram shared a clip of Melvin playing with the prop before unintentionally pulling off its arm.

Craig Melvin’s aggression while cooking

During a recent ‘Today’ episode, Erin and Craig Melvin planned to prepare crispy chicken cutlets and salad from the cookbook ‘Big Heart, Little Stove’.

Erin pointed out that those following her chicken cutlet recipe had the option to purchase pre-made cutlets or create their own from scratch.

She said to Melvin after handing him a rolling pin, “If you want to make your own cutlets, you can take out a little aggression if you had a hard work day and just go for it!”

The host began vigorously rolling the pin over the chicken, all the while maintaining a sense of humor, saying, "I don't know why I'm making that face, by the way."

With a light-hearted tone, he mentioned that he had given the chicken a bit of a "beating" before regaining his composure and proceeding with the cooking segment.

With a brief moment where he was letting off steam by using the rolling pin a few more times, it appeared that Melvin had a momentary lapse in his cool composure.

However, he and Erin resumed working on the recipe together without further incident.

Craig Melvin’s sharp knife skills

During another episode of the ‘Today’ show, Craig Melvin raised some eyebrows when he was seen wielding a butcher knife, causing concern among his co-hosts.

The 44-year-old host was spotted walking through the halls of the morning show's offices while carrying the knife.

Melvin later shared a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram, where he treated his co-stars to slices of cake. The video began with the ‘Today’ host holding up a cake with a large knife stuck right in the middle, resembling a dagger.

He explained to the camera, "Craig Melvin here, with Caroline's Cakes from South Carolina. It's Wednesday Cake Day here at the Today Show. I'm going to surprise some folks with a little slice of heaven."

As he moved around, Melvin expertly balanced the cake with one hand and used the other to slice pieces for his colleagues.

He maintained this balancing act, using one hand to support the knife's surface with the cake slice atop it, ensuring a graceful presentation.

In the caption, he humorously noted, "Nothing makes people happy like cake!"
