NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The charismatic host of NBC’s ‘Today’ show, Craig Melvin, is often seen indulging in hilarious on-air antics. Recently, the host got into an amusing moment when he accidentally broke the arm of Target's viral Halloween pumpkin decoration, Lewis.

Notably, the Halloween decoration, which has taken over social media, was about to be on 'Today’ as a guest.

However, before Lewis’s big debut on the show to explore why he’s become so popular, Melvin unintentionally broke his arm. This comes after the incident where the host admitted to being a "hot mess" during a Superfood segment last week.

As nutrition expert Joy Bauer joined ‘Today’ hosts to show some healthy food swaps, Melvin burst into laughter as his co-host Al Roker looked annoyed.

Then, Melvin turned around and said, "Sorry, I’m a hot mess right now," as he kept laughing.

The viral sensation Halloween pumpkin decoration, Lewis, was about to appear on the ‘Today’ show, however, Craig Melvin inadvertently inflicted an arm injury.

A clip of the mishap was posted on the official Instagram account of the ‘Today’ show with a caption that read, "When you spend days trying to book viral sensation Lewis and then Craig accidentally breaks his arm," followed by worried and broken heart emojis.

Adding a lighthearted twist to the situation, the accompanying text quipped, "They've come out of this stronger than ever.”

In the video, the 8-foot-tall Melvin was seen standing beside the towering decoration adorned with a pumpkin-shaped head, sporting an expression of mild surprise mixed with a hint of guilt.

Stepping away from the sizable decoration, he announced, "Lewis has got a broken arm!" as it seemed he accidentally pulled the arm off.

The exclamation was met with a chorus of sympathetic "Oh no!", to which the host responded by raising his shoulders in a nonchalant shrug with his hands up in defense.

"I didn't do it on purpose!" he declared, trying to reassure everyone that the mishap was entirely unintentional.

In a bid to make amends, Melvin attempted to rectify the situation by lifting the pumpkin man's arms and supporting them with his own.

The video caption took a lighter tone as it changed to, "Still besties." Subsequently, the segment aired as planned, revealing that Lewis was still fully operational.
