What happened in 'Time Bandits' Episode 2?
Episode 2 begins with the Time Bandits reaching Kevin's home in England, only 50,000 years in the past in the pre-historic ages. Kevin tries hard to convince them but they deny this possibility.
After being finally convinced by Kevin, the Time Bandits take a voyage to the Mayan period which would later be Mexico. Kevin knows the history of the Mayans and discusses it with the Bandits who are out there to steal anything valuable from the rich civilization.
The Mayans are very welcoming of strangers and offer them a feast at the order of Lady Sak K'uk (Génesis Mancheren Ab'äj), the current ruler who will be replaced by her young son as the King soon.
Kevin has read about their tradition of sacrifice and feels that the feast is a precursor to the sacrifice. He tries to convince Penelope (Lisa Kudrow) who continues to look for security loopholes to steal something valuable.
When Kevin describes the ritual and it seems he is right Penelope gets the bandits to try and escape the Mayans. They try to run away but it turns out that the ritual was just eating fruit and watching the sunset.
Once they return to Kevin's home in the current time, they are saying their final farewell when they realize a demon has burnt Kevin's parents into coal. Kevin goes back in time with the bandits to change this.
We get a glimpse of the supreme being who is talking about a plan as Damon (Jonny Brugh) overhears the conversation.
What to expect from 'Time Bandits' Episode 3?
So far the episode titles have been indicative of the episode storyline and it seems that is going to be the case in the third episode too. The episode is titled Medieval, and we could see our heroes head toward a medieval-era storyline.
With the medieval era being rich in resources, the bandits will have a lot to steal from that time. Kevin is a history buff and for any history buff, the medieval era has a lot to explore. We saw in Episode 2, that the knowledge gathered from a secondary source however is unreliable as the Mayans turned out to be different from what Wikipedia had told Kevin.
There is a continuous sub-plot where the demon from hell has burnt Kevin's parents and he needs to get them back. Kevin's sister is still in the house and the demon might go after her unless Kevin can stop him.
Finally, there is a developing story between the supreme being and Damon. We have only gotten a glimpse of it in the second episode and will explore more in the next episode.
