Brett Goldstein made his maiden MCU debut as Hercules in the mid-credits scene of 'Thor: Love and Thunder'. The 'Ted Lasso' stars briefly, but sets the tone for a potential fifth Thor movie. Although there is a lot of uncertainty about how his arc pans out, there have been quite a few theories.

The mid-credits scene follows an injured Zeus (Russell Crowe) seething with rage after Thor (Chris Hemsworth) zaps his Thunderbolt right through his heart. The mighty god of Lighting tasks his son Hercules to take on Thor so that mortals across the universe would finally fear gods as they should. "They beg you for mercy without ever knowing if you're listening," he tells Hercules. "Now, they look to the sky - they don't ask us for lightning, they don't ask us for rain. They just want to see one of their so-called superheroes. When did we become the joke? No...no, they will fear us again when Thor Odinson falls from the sky. Do you understand me, Hercules? Do you understand me, my son?"

What's next for Brett Goldstein's Hercules in the MCU?

The frequently asked question is whether Goldstein will be seen in a potential 'Thor 5', and while the God of Thunder is confirmed to return, it remains to be seen whether Hercules makes an earlier entry into the MCU. There is the possibility of the champion warrior returning in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3' which will release well before another Thor flick. The two parties have had encounters in the comics, and the movie would be the perfect way to add more of Hercules to the MCU.

Born to the Greek god Zeus and human Alcmena, Hercules was created for one purpose — to be the greatest champion and his existence went well beyond 1,000 years. Going by comic history, Hercules had some epic scrimmages with Thor before fighting alongside the Avengers. In addition, there have been storylines where he was a member of the Defenders and also helped in the formation of the West Coast-based heroes.

'Love and Thunder' director Taika Waititi also shed light on Goldstein's future as Hercules in the MCU. In an interview with Uproxx, he said it was Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige's idea to introduce him. “And I don’t know if that’s to do with Thor, or if it’s to do with how that will develop," he explained when asked about Hercules' future. "Because, obviously, Hercules, there’s a character from the books as well. And so, yeah, this will be interesting to see because Kevin, he’s obviously the mastermind of all of these threads and how they’ll tie up and how they meet, mix and match. So I’m curious to find out myself."

'Thor: Love and Thunder' is running in cinemas near you.
