'This is Us' Season 4 Episode 6: Will 'The Club' talk about Kate's abusive relationship with Marc?

Rebecca, who had recently lost Jack, reveals that she wanted so desperately to believe everything is alright when Kate admits that she too was oblivious to what was really going on

Despite his charm and good looks, we knew right from the beginning that teenage Kate's (Hannah Zeile) boyfriend Marc (Austin Abrams) is bad news.

'This is Us' introduced Marc in Season 4 Episode 4 titled 'Flip a Coin', but we didn't get to see much of him at all until the next episode, titled 'Storybook Love', which narrated the story of a strange night in the lives of the Pearsons.

The red flags began to go off when Marc showed up at Kate and Rebecca's (Mandy Moore) new home uninvited because he knew that she was dreading the night. May be cute? Sure.

But, he did not have her address and basically had to swipe it from her employee records. He also introduced himself as Kate's boyfriend at the cozy family dinner, and he is not only a man in his twenties dating a teenager, he also happens to be her boss.

If we could go back in time and talk to young Kate we would warn her to bolt. Unfortunately, hindsight is all Kate has at the moment, and we see it when adult Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Rebecca reflect on the relationship.

Rebecca, who had recently lost Jack (Milo Ventimiglia), reveals that she wanted so desperately to believe everything is alright when Kate admits that she too was oblivious to what was really going on.

However, it seems like teenage Kevin (Logan Shroyer) has some inclination as to what is going on, at least he seems to think Marc is a bad fit for his sister, while teenage Randall (Niles Fitch) also seems to agree.

The show is yet to actually address this, but from how they introduced the relationship, we believe that Kate and Marc were in an abusive relationship, and the latter used everything in his power to victimize Kate.

We see that the death of Jack has already made Kate dependant on food, and whatever happens between her Marc will make her more reliant on it. Some fans seem to think that the relationship, in fact, is what pushes Kate to turn to food over humans, and sets the track for the events that follow in her life.

We are excited to see if the upcoming Season 4 Episode 6 of 'This is Us', titled 'The Club', will address Kate's past, specifically her relationship with Marc. It will air on Tuesday, October 29, so don't forget to tune in and find out.
