'This is Us' Season 4 Episode 6 will finally answer if a ripped Toby picked Kate only because he felt unattractive earlier

The pressures of being a new parent to a blind son took kate and Toby in very different directions. While Toby focused on fitness, Kate started over-eating and that has started to take a toll on their marriage as well.

Way before season four of 'This is Us' premiered, we were promised that Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby's (Chris Sullivan) marriage will go through a difficult phase following the birth of their son.

We learned earlier this season that their son Jack is blind and that the pressures of being a new parent to a blind son took Kate and Toby in very different directions. While Toby focused on fitness, Kate started over-eating, and that has started to take a toll on their marriage as well.

While Kate was initially shocked that Toby would do this, and behind her back, nonetheless, she had come to appreciate the changes he has been making in his lifestyle for the sake of their son.

However, there is a tinge of bitterness and potential resentment that we feel from her, and we will see them get addressed in the upcoming episode six of the series.

In the episode, we see the show answering a question that is very important to Kate — did Toby settle for Kate?

Since becoming parents, Toby and Kate haven't really done anything by themselves, so for the sake of their marriage, they decide to do something together.

However, during an intimate moment, we see a very insecure Kate asking a currently ripped Toby if he still finds her attractive.

This question seems to imply that Toby only found her attractive when he himself felt unattractive and that as he got into shape, he would rather be with someone who is also in shape.

This assessment, while we see where Kate is coming from, is unfair to Toby because he has proved time and again that he loves Kate in whatever shape or form.

However, we will see them approach this very unique and novel storyline that not many shows or films have addressed before being explored on 'This is Us' come Tuesday.

So, don't forget to watch 'The Club', the season four episode six of 'This is Us' when it airs on October 29 on NBC.
