'This is Us' Season 4 Episode 5: It's an awkward Pearson family dinner with Kevin's surprise wife and Kate's secret boyfriend
The most recently aired Season 4 Episode 4 of 'This is Us' ended on a huge shocked - teenage Kevin (Logan Shroyer) married his childhood sweetheart without telling anyone. Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and teenage Kate (Hannah Zeile ) seemed extremely shocked by the news but they are planning to take it in their stride and welcome teenage Sophie (Amanda Leighton) into the family with a cozy little family dinner.
In the trailer for the upcoming episode of the NBC series, we see that Rebecca has invited Kevin, Sophie, teen Randall (Niles Fitch), and teen Beth (Rachel Hilson) over, presumably to celebrate Kevin's wedding, shocking as it may have been for her. As Kate points out, the dinner is not going to make the wedding seem any less bizarre, but Rebecca is certainly hoping it will help. Meanwhile, an unexpected guest pops in, who just so happens to be Kate's new boyfriend.
In the previous episode, we saw Kate hitting it off with one of the employees at the record store she just started working, and it seems like they are now officially boyfriend and girlfriend. At least we hear him introduce himself as such, and everyone at the table looks genuinely surprised, especially Rebecca. Clearly, she is losing a grip on what is happening in her children's lives and it is certainly going to hit her hard. She has already been having a tough time adjusting life without Jack (Milo Ventimiglia), and this is not a heartache she deserves at the moment.
Titled 'Storybook Love', the upcoming episode will focus on love stories of the Big Three, while we get to see Kate's love story with someone other than Toby (Chris Sullivan), adult Kevin's (Justin Hartley) story will focus on his friendship with Cass (Jennifer Morrison). He is on a mission to help her win her estranged husband back at the moment, but we have a feeling they are going to end up together.
