'This is Us' Season 4 Episode 10: Fans hope Kate leaves Toby before he cheats on her
The wait for 'This is Us' to return with Season 4B has been pretty brutal, especially since it has established that what awaits us after the break is more heartbreak. Since the beginning of Season 4, we have seen Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby's (Chris Sullivan) relationship going downhill. It started with them becoming parents and not really having time for each other, and that intensified when it became apparent that Toby has been going to Crossfit to manage the stress of being a new father to a blind son while Kate put on more weight due to the stress.
The last we saw Kate and Toby was at the family Thanksgiving gettogether at Randall's (Sterling K Brown) new home in Philly and things weren't looking great. While Kate admitted to her sister-in-law Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) that she resents Toby for losing the weight without her even though the plan was to do it together and that she feels guilty for feeling that. Beth tells her that if you are more comfortable with talking about the issues in your marriage with the people outside of it, then the relationship is already going in the wrong direction.
We see that Toby too is venting to his friends about the issues in their marriage rather than discussing them with Kate, which she finds out. In the trailer for the upcoming Season 4 Episode 10, we see her confronting Toby about it, and asking if she was crazy to think that he is pulling away from her. Kate and Toby have overcome so many things together, and they have communicated their needs to each other in the past, hopefully, they will be able to do it again. If not on their own, we hope they seek out therapy.
That being said, in the midseason finale we also saw Kate sign for a package as Kate Pearson instead of Kate Damon, which has made us concerned about their marital status in the future. 'This is Us' is known to throw us fans off every now and then, but if they are indeed going to get a divorce, fans hope that the split is amicable and that Toby doesn't cheat on her.
Kate and Toby's future is what we are most excited to learn about when Season 4 Episode 10 of 'This is Us' airs on NBC on Tuesday, January 14, but not so far behind is our collective intrigue regarding the "surprise guest". Do you have any guesses on who they might be?
