Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) has finally seen the light in Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). After cutting off all personal ties with the man she was almost jumping into a little something more than platonic with, Amanda has now agreed to defend Billy in his wrongful arrest for the shooting of Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), which ended up hurting Chance chancellor instead. Amanda has given Billy some strict guidelines to follow as we saw in the previous episode of 'The Young and the Restless'.

However, based on what spoilers tease for the upcoming episode, not only does Billy express his suspicions over Alyssa Montalvo (Maria DiDomenico) being the actual shooter, his new girlfriend Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) will even find a pair of shooting gloves in the suspect's room. Could Alyssa be the real shooter, and could this all have been some elaborate plan of Adam's to frame Billy?

Spoilers for the Wednesday, December 16 episode tease that Amanda will warn Billy of the conditions of her working with him: no lying, no interfering with the witness, and no speaking to the DA in her absence. Billy in turn tells Amanda of his suspicions over Alyssa, and the two trying to crack the reason behind her sudden return to Genoa City. This is where the two begin suspecting that Adam had a role to play in this all along.

Alyssa's reasons to hurt Adam are obvious; she couldn't get over the fact that Adam got away with killing her father. But her working for Adam doesn't make sense especially since she and Billy were on the same side with their mutual hatred for the Newman heir. Alyssa's first expose against Adam didn't quite get her the results she hopes for, with him just getting away with an interrogation. This might have turned her against Billy as she could be feeling this expose's outcome was overpromised by him, and thus now, she's resorted to seeking revenge on both of them.

Considering the shooting's target was Adam and the bullet hit Chance, both the men Alyssa planted her expose against are victims in the incident, so holding Alyssa accountable isn't too far fetched a deduction to draw. But the possibility of Adam manipulating her still doesn't hold water, and Amanda seems to think so too. That doesn't mean Alyssa is innocent, especially not after Lily finds a pair of shooting gloves in her suite at the Grand Phoenix.

It begins with Lily banging at Alyssa's door until she answers and gives her only five minutes to talk. Alyssa admits she's been considering Billy's offer to write a second expose on Adam but when Lily asks her why she was at the sight of the shooting, Alyssa tells her that time's up. This is when Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) interferes and tells Alyssa she needs to be moved to a more secure location, but Lily isn't quitting her search. The moment the two are out of the premises, Lily barges in, to snoop around in Alyssa's room and that's when she makes the game-changing discovery. Also coming across a photo next to the gloves, Lily realizes the photo is that of AJ Montalvo, Alyssa's father, and decides to confide in Amanda about what she's found.

Elsewhere in the episode, Chance and Abby discuss having babies, Phyllis and Nick have a minor conflict over him trying to rescue her when she doesn't want to be rescued, and Faith Newman continues to be harassed via memes from mean schoolgirls bullying her online.

'The Young and the Restless' airs on weekdays at 12:30 PM only on CBS.
