Things are getting intense on ‘The Witcher’ Season 2 as it slowly and steadily inches toward its conclusion. In the first five episodes of the latest edition, we saw how Ciri (Freya Allan) is the key to everything that’s been happening. It was also revealed that she is the “seed that bursts into flame” and will be responsible for destroying the world. That’s why Geralt (Henry Cavill) takes her away from Kaer Morhen and wants to take her to a place that’s safer.

As a result, he takes Ciri to the Temple of Melitele and introduces her to Nenneke, who runs the temple. Geralt wants Nenneke to find out if Ciri is ready to learn the things she needs to control the chaos. When Geralt asks Nenneke if she’s ready for it, Nenneke tells him how precious she is and why thousands have died for her. Nenneke also reveals that Ciri is a child of destiny and Geralt is a part of her. She tells him to find what is missing in the girl and only then, he stand a chance of helping her.

A few moments later, Geralt sits in his room and the door opens. Geralt says, “I’ll see you in a bit, Ciri.” As soon as he says the line, he feels that it’s not Ciri, but someone that he knew dearly. And yes, it was Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) who came inside his room. They both look at each other in shock and share a passionate kiss. Ciri arrives and sees them kissing. Geralt introduces them to each other as they sit down for a conversation.

Ciri tells her that Geralt once told her that Yennefer was the most powerful mage he ever saw. Ciri gives them the talk to talk and goes into her room. Geralt and Yennefer talk to each other, discussing what they lost and how Geralt hurt her. He tells Yennefer that her heartbeat has been really fast and she’s nervous. He asks her why she is here. To which, she replies that she wants to heal those wounds that are not leaving her body.

During the end moments of the episode, we see a mage with the power of fire coming for Ciri. But Geralt and Yennefer come at the right time to help her. Geralt engages in an epic fight that will everyone go berserk. Yennefer and Ciri are inside a room trying to find a way out. The mage with the power of fire is trying to melt the door of the room while Geralt fights other men.

However, the orbuculum shines in the room, which means one of them has powers and it’s not Yennefer. She tells Ciri to use her magic to get away from here and she’s the only one who can save them. Ciri uses her power to create a portal while Geralt throws the sword at the mage. The mage goes away and he sees Ciri and Yennefer leaving the castle. Geralt tells Yennefer to stay, but she doesn’t and takes Ciri away with her.

Yennefer did this because the old witch told her that she’ll give her powers back when she’ll bring Ciri to the shattered black door just outside Cintra. This will give Yennefer her powers back and a lot more than that. That’s the reason she took Ciri away and betrayed Geralt.

‘The Witcher’ Season 2 is currently streaming on Netflix.
