Spoilers for 'The Walking Dead: World Beyond' Episode 10: 'In This File'

'The Walking Dead' fans will be a disappointed lot. For all the theories about the possibility of seeing Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) in AMC's latest spin-off series, 'The Walking Dead: World Beyond', there was no glimpse of the star in Season 1. In what could be termed as a second disappointment, there was pretty less screentime for the CRM as well as the focus was all on the teens and their journey through the alien, zombie-filled, post-apocalyptic world.

Last we saw, Grimes was taken away in Season 8 by a mysterious chopper and while we do know that CRM were the ones who have him, everything about his whereabouts has been pretty hushed up. However, with Season 1 of 'World Beyond' finally ending, there's a promise that Season 2 will most definitely reveal where Grimes could possibly be even if there is no actual appearance on the show. We can also expect some hints that would lead to the Rick Grimes films that are currently under development.

Grimes has been a notable absentee, but in the show's defense, it makes sense to not have the fan-favorite character as that would take away the spotlight from the teens. While there could be another opinion that maybe his presence would have lit up the average show, the spin-off has managed a decent run, especially because it was aimed at a new audience. That said, there is no ruling out the possibility of having a Grimes appearance or any clues in Season 2 which has already been greenlit.

According to Digital Spy, showrunner Matt Negrete has some insights to share ahead of Season 2. "You will get answers as to potentially where Rick was taken," he said. The current season one already cleared up part of the Rick Grimes mystery, including the truth behind his designation as a "B". Now it's up to the second installment that would probably lead into the movie.

What are your thoughts on how Season 2 of 'The Walking Dead: World Beyond' could set up the Rick Grimes movie?

'The Walking Dead: World Beyond' will be back with Season 2 sometime in 2021.
