'The Walking Dead: World Beyond': Release date, plot, cast and all you need to know about AMC's horror drama
AMC's most successful series 'The Walking Dead' has spanned nine hit seasons and was renewed for season 10 recently. Its spin-off series, 'Fear the Walking Dead' will soon see a sixth season heading our way. Now, a third series will be making the foray onto our TV screens soon and while much of the details are shrouded in secrecy, here's what we know so far.

'The Walking Dead: World Beyond' is set to hit AMC on April 12.
Plot
At the moment, it is still unclear what the plot of the new series will be. Deadline reports that the third installment will see the first generation come of age in the apocalypse that we have seen in the previous two series. The people of this generation will choose their own path. The official logline as reported by THR states: "Some go on to become heroes, while some take the villainous route. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad. The untitled series will have 10 episodes.
Cast
Aliyah Royale as Iris
Royale's television credits include the series 'Major Crimes' and 'Man and Wife', as well as the television movie 'Strange Calls'.
Annet Mahendru as Huck
Mahendru is best known for her role as Nina Sergeevna Krilova on the FX period drama series 'The Americans'.
Alexa Mansour as Hope
Mansour came to the limelight after her appearance in the Tatia Pilieva-directed viral video 'Undress Me'. She also played a minor role in the series 'How to Get Away with Murder'.
Nicolas Cantu as Elton
Cantu voiced the character Diego in the animated series, 'Dora and Friends: Into the City!'
Hal Cumpston as Silas
Hal Cumpston wrote, produced and starred in his first feature film 'Bilched' at the age of 18.
Director/Writer
Scott M. Gimple, 'The Walking Dead' content chief, and flagship writer Matt Negrete co-created the series. The latter, who has been a writer and producer on 'The Walking Dead' for the past five seasons, will also serve as showrunner. Jordan Vogt-Roberts ('Kong: Skull Island') will direct the series.
Trailer
The over 40 seconds trailer sees the cast giving a cloaked description as to what the new series will be about. "There have been things going on since the start of 'The Walking Dead'," one of the actors says in the trailer. The descriptions are juxtaposed with concept art featuring post-apocalyptic renderings of 'The Walking Dead' universe. This includes gory images of zombies and new locations that we haven't seen before.

Talking about the third series during the San Diego Comic-Con 2019, content chief Gimple gave a quick preview. "These kids grew up in a place of comfort and security, but they leave everything on a dangerous quest and end up being pursued by adults on their own dangerous quest. We'll see kids become heroes and some become villains."
