'The Walking Dead' Season 10 finale: Can Maggie Rhee ever forgive Negan for murdering her husband in Season 7?
Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) made the much-needed comeback in 'The Walking Dead' Season 10 finale. For the longest time, there was much speculation and theories about what her role in the anticipated episode was. Would she be the one to lead the victory against the Whisperers? Will she kill Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), the man who took everything from her? The most burning question was: What exactly had Maggie been up to since we last saw her?
Well, we don't get the answer to the last question. And all the speculation falls rather flat, for now. We saw Maggie, for sure. But for a little more than a blip. She returned for the Whisperer War, but we didn't get to see her in any action scenes apart from knocking down a door. So, we don't know much about her motivations and what exactly she had been doing since Season 9.
And, neither did we get to see her come face-to-face with the man she hates---Negan, who seems to have redeemed himself and mingled well with the communities now, so much so that they have forgotten about his murderous entrance into the series back in Season 7, where he bashed the heads of Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and Glenn (Steven Yeun) with a baseball bat after a nerve-wracking game of duck-duck goose. Those two deaths are something TWD fans will never recover from. Maggie, who was pregnant, at the time, had to witness her husband Glenn being murdered in front of her. Since then, she has sworn revenge against Negan. So how will she feel after seeing that he has been so well integrated into the communities? Even her close friend Daryl (Normal Reedus) has buried the hatchets and is somewhat friendly to him. This is bound to create anger and distrust in the coming episodes. It's unlikely that Maggie can ever tolerate Negan in the same space, let alone forgive him for his earlier crimes.
At Comic-Con 2020, the stars of the show discussed, what's going to happen when Negan and Maggie come face to face. For starters, Maggie has her son Hershel with her. Jeffrey Dean Morgan said that Negan would be walking a 'fine line' with Maggie, and spoke about Hershel meeting Negan at the panel discussion, "I think he has a relationship with young kids that's really honest. So I don't think he'd want to shy away from who he is," adds "He's going to be walking a fine line with Maggie." Morgan explained that Negan has a 'soft spot' for younger kids.
'The Walking Dead' is an AMC show, and airs on Sundays 9pm.
