'The Voice' Season 18: James Taylor joins show as mega mentor, fans can hardly wait to see the rock legend
Legendary music icon, James Taylor will be joining 'The Voice' Season 18 as the Mega Mentor and fans couldn't be more excited.
'The Voice' Season 18 concluded with its Battle Rounds on Monday night(April 6). With the Knockout Rounds set to begin next week, the series recently revealed that Taylor will serve as the Mega Mentor this season and help coaches Nick Jonas, Blake Shelton, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson mentor their teams as they step into the next round of the competition.
The 71-year-old rock legend has sold over 100 million albums. The legendary singer has earned gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards ever since he released his self-titled debut album back in 1968. In 2015, he released his first-ever #1 album titled 'Before This World'.
As usual, for the Knockout Rounds the contestants are paired against a teammate once again. But the only difference is, this time they will get to select their own song to perform. After both contestants are done performing, the coaches will choose who will advance to the live shows. Each coach has only one steal in the Knockouts.
'The Voice' Season 18 also brought about a twist this season. The four-way Knockout round will see the four contestants who were saved by their coaches during the Battle Rounds compete against each other. This is the first-ever Four-Way Knockout in 'The Voice' and these four artists will each receive coaching and rehearsals from their coach and Taylor.
But the winner will not be decided by the coaches, but by America. After the four are done competing, voting will open and fans will have to choose which amongst the four artists will advance. When the live shows begin, host Carson Daly will reveal who amongst the four received the highest votes and will continue with their original team.
The news of Taylor serving as the Mega Mentor this season has fans really excited. Taking to Twitter a fan wrote, "I seen fire i seen rain.i grew up with james taylor.i just adore him .lucky you #BlakeShelton," a fan wrote.
"OMG! I AM SO EXCITED FOR JT! Loved him forever," a fan shared. While another fan wrote, "OMG He is an icon congrats to the voice and may I suggest to the contestants follow James‘s lead."

"Best Mentor that has been on The Voice. Can't hardly wait until next Monday," a fan wrote. Adding to that another said, "Now THAT’s a Mentor."
