'The Voice' Season 17 Top 8: Fans feel John Legend made a mistake by choosing Carrie Underwood's 'Before He Cheats' for Marybeth Byrd

John Legend is the only coach, whose team is still consistent, but looks like that might not be for long, especially after his song selection for Marybeth Byrd's semifinal performance.

'The Voice' Season 17 returned on Monday night, and it looks like John Legend has ticked fans off tonight with his song selection for Marybeth Byrd.

It's the semifinals, and this week it's all about the 1980s as the remaining Top 8 contestants battle it out for a spot in next week's finale. This week, the semifinalists will each perform two songs, a solo as usual, and a duet. The three contestants, who have the highest number of votes, will make it directly to the finals, while the two with the least number of votes will be eliminated.

The three remaining contestants will perform one last time as they vie for the last spot in the finale. As the coaches returned to their seat, the contestants took to the stage, hoping to make it to the finale.

John Legend is the only coach whose team is still consistent, but looks like that might not be for long, especially after his song selection for Marybeth Byrd's semifinal performance. For Marybeth's performance, John chose 'Before He Cheats' by Carrie Underwood. It is definitely a strong song choice, and Marybeth did as much justice as she could, but it wasn't her best.

"See. And this song showcases the talent MaryBeth has. John why’d you do our girl dirty with Before He Cheats?!?! #TheVoice," a fan wrote.

Adding to that another said, "Shame on you John. You just killed MaryBeth’s chance at winning this show. There are MANY Carrie Underwood songs that would have been so much better for her. #TheVoice."

"Why is John picking the darn songs ?? #TheVoice," wrote a fan. While another shared, "So John trying to get his team voted off by these song choices or what ? #TheVoice."

"The Voice airing on NBC #TheVoice https://twitter.com/i/events/1201572179575328768… Mary Beth can’t cover a Carrie song. That was a bad song choice John.," a fan shared.
