LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: There is a lot happening around the world at the moment but the focus has been on the missing Titanic submersible. The tragedy struck and every news outlet, tabloid, and talk show has been discussing it. In fact, even Instagram reels and TikToks are being made about the incident. So, it was only time before ‘The View’ and the co-hosts addressed this topic, and that’s exactly what they did on Wednesday, June 21, episode.

Whoopi Goldberg started the topic, and let her co-hosts discuss it as they all had a lot to say, especially Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar. While the main focus was on the tragedy revolving around the Titanic submersible, Hostin and Behar couldn’t help themselves from making a couple of tone-deaf and insensitive comments, and that didn’t sit right with the fans.

‘That's the irony of it’

As the 'Hot Topics' segment on the Titanic submersible began, Behar couldn’t stop herself from talking about the 1997 movie ‘Titanic’ and comparing it to the current incident. Behar says, "It's interesting because the Titanic itself went down because of human incompetence and stupidity on the part of, according to the movies, hubris, and the same with this. That's the irony of it. They're going to see the same thing is happening to them. It's very sad and scary." As the co-hosts discuss physical risks that people undertake, Behar couldn’t relate to them as she said, "I don't understand physical risks. I've gotten up in front of audiences drunk at two in the morning to do stand-up. That's a risk that I took.”

In addition, there are a lot of people who are hoping that there will be some legal repercussion that does justice to those who are missing. But, Hostin, who is also a lawyer was quick to burst their bubble as she said, “There won't be much legal repercussion,” and then went on to explain that the travelers had signed waivers that mentioned death. The internet didn’t take too well to this particular segment of ‘The View’ and took to Twitter to express their thoughts.

‘Joy Behar has to say hateful comments’

The internet unleashed its wrath on the co-hosts, as one person tweeted, “Can we get the ladies into a submersible? Not sure if they'll all fit.” Behar’s insensitivity was highlighted as one user said, “It's very sad but Joy Behar has to say hateful comments, based on her hatred of Republicans and the rich even though we know Democrats are richer than Republicans...she's a b****. Why do you keep this hate show on the air?” and another tweeted, “We couldn't even get through a very serious issue without Joy feeling the need to try to be funny.  She was not. Please do better.”

Of course, Wednesday’s episode had only Hot Topics and no guests, which also irked viewers, especially after this segment as they wrote, “What happened to your scheduled guests this week?” A few Twitter users tried to lighten up the mood with their tweets while still keeping ‘The View’ in focus as they wrote, “Im surprised The View hasn’t blamed the missing sub on Trump.🤣” Finally, one person summed up the emotions most people resonated with after this segment as they tweeted, “I found the attitudes of Joy and Sunny to be quite offensive. Did they forget these folks are human beings?”
