'The Tomorrow War': Air time, how to watch and trailer of Amazon's sci-fi epic
Chris Pratt is undoubtedly one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood right now and has been a part of a lot of blockbusters in recent times. The actor is set to enthrall viewers once again with his upcoming movie ‘The Tomorrow War’, a science-fiction movie backed by Amazon.
Apart from Pratt, the film also has a strong female lead in the form of Yvonne Strahovski. The story revolves around a group of time travelers arriving from 2051 to deliver an important and urgent message. Mankind has gone to war against an alien species and the only hope for humans to survive is to get some reinforcements. So, they decided to go into the past and transport some soldiers and civilians to the future to join the fight.

The movie has been in the pipeline since 2019 and at that time it was titled ‘Ghost Draft’. The project was originally slated to start filming in the first half of 2019, but that could not happen and the makers took some time to finalize the cast. The filming began in the second half of 2019 and got a new name with an amazing cast coming together for the sci-fi epic. However, Covid-19 played a big role in shifting the release date for the movie. Two years later, the movie is finally coming out.

Air time
The movie was originally slated to release in December 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic forced the makers and the production company Paramount Pictures to shift the release date. It was rescheduled to July 23, 2021, and was shifted once again because of the pandemic. However, in January 2021, Amazon Studios acquired the rights of the movie for approximately $200M and announced that the movie will be released on the streaming platform on Friday, July 2.
How to watch
Viewers can watch the movie exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. You can either gain access to Prime Video through an Amazon Prime membership, which costs $119 a year, or $12.99 a month. A 30-day trial of Amazon Prime is available for new users. People can also watch Prime Video on other platforms such as Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Roku TV, Nvidia Shield and Virgin Media TiVO.
Plot
The official synopsis reads, “The world is stunned when a group of time travelers arrives from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future, mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is a high school teacher and family man Dan Forester (Chris Pratt). Determined to save the world for his young daughter, Dan teams up with a brilliant scientist from the Romeo Command (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (JK Simmons) in a desperate quest to rewrite the fate of the planet.”

Pratt gained prominence from acting in TV show ‘Parks & Recreation’. He played a lot of important roles in movies such as ‘Moneyball’, ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ and ‘Her’. However, his popularity went to a whole new level when he was cast in the movie ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movies by Marvel Studios.
