Is Richard Hartley cut out to be a dog parent? 'The Rev' star asks friend to do all the dirty work
Pastor Richard Hartley is certainly a man of many talents. From touring across the world with his choir groups to training amateurs choir singers, he can do it all. But unfortunately, the same can't be said for his pet parenting skills. On the latest episode of 'The Rev', we saw the pastor surprise his family by bringing home a foster dog, and making tall claims of single-handedly taking care of it.
Richard reminisced about his old dog Snowboard, which his wife Stacey gave away to someone else while he was touring. The pastor complained to his confidante, Mickey, on how he was heartbroken when he came home to find that his beloved dog wasn't there anymore. He blamed his wife for giving up the dog, and labeled her as "cold and heartless". But Mickey corrects Richard and reminds him that the reason Stacey gave away Snowboard was that he never took any care of the dog, and left all the responsibility with his wife, who also had two little children to look after.
The pastor dismisses Mickey and decides to get another dog to fill the void left behind by Snowboard. Mickey suggests fostering a dog for a few days before making the big decision of adopting one, just to see if he was up for taking on all the responsibilities that come with keeping a pet. Richard agrees with Mickey's idea, and ends up bringing home a pit bull, which he sweetly named her Snowball.
When Richard brings home Snowball, his family was shocked. Stacey declares that she isn't going to take care of the dog, and it would be his responsibility to take walk the dog, feed, clean the poop, etc. Richard happily agrees to it all and declares that he will prove to his wife how he's a good pet parent. But when it's time to take the dog on its walk, he begins feeling lazy, but he still goes on with it, just to prove his point.
But when Snowball began pooping, and it was time for Richard to clean up after it, he immediately turns to Mickey for help. Richard gets Mickey to do all the heavy lifting when it came to caring for the dog. Eventually, Richard realized that taking care of a dog is way more difficult than he had anticipated. Richard grudgingly comes to a realization that he is more of a dog lover than a dog owner. So, he finds a new home for Snowball and sends her away.
