Spoilers ahead for Episode 2 of 'The Red Shadows'

The previous episode of Sundance's latest mystery-thriller series 'The Red Shadows' saw chaos unfold in the Garnier family, as Aurore (Nadia Farès) traces down Clara Ivaldi (Manon Azem), who shares an uncanny resemblance to her long-lost sister.

In Episode 2, Clara follows her heart and goes to visit the Garniers at their Sainte-Victoire Estate to see for herself if the story presented by Aurore was true.

However, rekindling a relationship with her family nearly 25 years later puts Clara in a tough spot as not everybody in the family is willing to accept her yet. While her sudden appearance sends her grandfather Paul Garnier to the hospital, her half-brother Frédéric (Raphaël Lenglet) is convinced that there is something off about her.

Putting their differences aside, Jacques Garnier (Antoine Duléry) calls for a family gathering to welcome Clara wholeheartedly. Although some of the family members are rather concerned about Clara's true intentions with Aurore and the latter's staunch belief in her newfound sister, the police officer finds solace in the situation as it helped her achieve clarity to a certain degree about her unsettling past.

However, when the Garniers gather on the rooftop for their first ever dinner with Clara in 25 years, shots are fired at them by a hitman, which they manage to escape uninjured.

Alarmed by the attack, Aurore digs deeper into the Vasquez's case and learns that he had contacted Clara a week before he was buried alive. As Aurore tries to comprehend everything that is gone down with her in the past few days, it only makes her more suspicious.

Towards the end of the episode, it is revealed that Clara is not Aurore's sister but her half-sister, as the former's DNA does not match with Aurore's father.

Episode 2 ends by making us look at Clara's abduction from a completely different light. What looked like an act of child kidnapping for a ransom begins to look like a plan staged by someone within the family, who was well aware of the Garnier's wealth and Clara's inheritance if she continued to live among them as Jacques' daughter.

It remains to be seen in the upcoming episodes if a young Clara fell prey to the politics of the family which is trying to tear each other apart, or if Clara is playing the miracle card well enough to benefit herself.

'The Red Shadows' airs every Friday at 1.30 pm on Sundance.
