'The Purge' Season 2 Episode 7 spoilers tease Ben's popularity on the rise with the Campus Killer masks going viral

This article contains spoilers for Season 2 Episode 7

Every week, ahead of the new episode, Season 2 of 'The Purge' takes some time out to reflect on the rest of the America and its morbid obsession with the annual celebration of violence where all crimes including murder are legal for 12 consecutive hours.

From commercializing this bloodloss and death rate to labeling the lives lost as martyrs, and programming young minds as tender as five-year-olds through graphic video games on 'The Purge' — the NFFA leaves no stone unturned to spread their propaganda.

And while last week we saw tourists from neighboring countries planning bachelorette parties in America around purge-time, this week we see how Ben's infamous Campur-Killer mask is being commodified by mask-making companies as a homage to true crimes.

Tonight's Episode 7 titled 'Should I Stay or Should I Go' opens with a mask-making company discussing what innovative designs they should opt for, as the next purge draws closer.

"I think we should make a push into the LGBTQ market," says one of the employees in their strategy meeting, justifying herself saying: "We'll look like we care, earn a bunch of goodwill, make a tidy profit."

Her suggestions are met with a shocking air of absolute nonchalance by her boss — the entire room deeply conditioned to the pro-purge mindset by now.

The bossman agrees that indeed a more LGBTQ-inclined bedazzled purge mask will pander to their need for a "more lifestyle reach", and the female employee goes on to elaborate how "focus groups reacted positively to the idea of a pride-mask, so we changed a few colors on an old skew and voila!"

As the lady flaunts her new masterpiece, the boss claims he will run with that as it will be them listening to their customers. That, and of course, a portion of profits earned has to be donated to relevant charities because that is extra goodwill after propagating some much-needed release through discreet violence.

And if you thought this was disturbing, in comes their fellow employee Jimmy, who is in charge of staying in touch with the prospective influences from the true-crime department, and Jimmy has this brilliant idea to push the Campus Killer mask worn by Ben when he murders.

This, Jimmy's boss has problems with, as he reminds his junior that they "make purge masks, not murder masks. We'd be promoting an active serial killer."

But Jimmy — pandering to the general mood of enthusiasm over the purge that prevails in their New America, reminds his boss that he "might be right, but our advertising allowance has been slashed. With something like this (mask), cable news does all the heavy lifting."

So, of course, Jimmy's idea is an absolute hit among the marketing strategists. The boss even congratulates Jimmy on his good work, enthusing how they are going to make a killing, and meanwhile, an actual serial killer is on the loose who may or may not end up murdering his beloved girlfriend very soon!

'The Purge' Season 2 airs on Tuesdays at 9 pm only on the USA Network.
