The Powerpuff Girls are all set to fly again in the open sky and save their town from the evil as a live-action version of the classic Cartoon Network series is in development at The CW. The Powerpuff Girls used to be America’s pint-sized superheroes. Now they’re disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime-fighting. The three girls who were made from Chemical X have the power to flight, super strength, superhuman speed, near invulnerability, x-ray vision, superhuman senses, energy projection, invisibility, and control over lightning and fire. The original animated series ran for six seasons and 78 episodes between 1998 and 2005. A reboot of the original series, starring voice actors Amanda Leighton, Kristen Li, and Natalie Palamides, premiered on Cartoon Network in 2016. The most recent third season wrapped on June 16, 2019.

Plot

Created by McCracken, the original animated superhero series 'The Powerpuff Girls' aired on Cartoon Network for six seasons and centered on Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, three kindergarten-aged girls with superpowers who lived in the fictional city of Townsville, USA with their father and creator, a scientist named Professor Utonium. They were frequently called upon by the city’s mayor to help fight nearby criminals and other enemies using their powers. The girls were often seen fighting Mojo Jojo, a super-intelligent modified chimpanzee and a major enemy. The new series will follow Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup as disillusioned girls in their 20s who are now a bit resentful that they spent their childhood fighting crime instead of having fun.
