Spoilers for Season 2 of 'The Order'

As one of the main characters on Netflix's 'The Order', Alyssa Drake has managed to rile up polarizing opinions. Played by Sarah Grey, Alyssa is a skilled magic practitioner and a member of the Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose, the titular magical secret society. In the first season, Alyssa was a Medicum but was promoted to the role of the Magistratus by the second season.

Alyssa is known for her ideological approach to magic and when the second season starts, we see that she did not want to erase the memories of the Knights of Saint Christopher, which included her love interest, Jack Morton (Jake Manley). However, as the season progresses, her antagonism with the Order's new Grand Magus, Vera Stone (Katharine Isabelle) and the loss of control of her magic lead Alyssa in a direction that none of us would have expected -- she soon became a follower of Salvador, the leader of Praxis, a magic anarchy group and then proceeded to avenge her death in the second season's final episode. By the end of the season, Midnight, one of the werewolves, slashes Alyssa's throat.

Many fans were disappointed with Alyssa's turn as a villain and even found her to be annoying. A fan tweeted, "I haven't been as annoyed with a character in a long time as I have been with Alyssa this entire season. Why couldn't she go to the demon realm instead of Lilith??" To recall, by the end of the fourth episode of the second season, Lilith Bathory (Devery Jacobs) was taken into the demon realm while she and Jack were battling a fear demon.

Another fan wrote, "Did I just watched the whole second season of #TheOrder in one day? Yep, I did. And @thesarahgrey you are brilliant and have an amazing voice but damn did Alyssa pissed me off in the second party of the season! #TheOrderSeason2@netflix please, we need a season 3." A fan expressed, "Does the character, Alyssa, from the Order constantly annoy anyone else? Zero growth."

A viewer wrote, "Once again, Alyssa Drake proves that she is a piece of s**t. #TheOrder," while another opined, "How can you expect me to care about Alyssa when time n time again people forgive her &give her EVERYTHING but it’s still not enough for her. She’s a privileged pretty white girl obsessed with getting power, but yet Gabrielle was demonized one s1 for the same thing?" One fan wrote, "I knew I didn’t like this girl. I knew it in my bones that I didn’t like Alyssa Drake, that something was off and she was gonna betray The Order." Another expressed, "Just finished #TheOrderSeason2 and OMG Alyssa's character pisses me off!!! I've never hated a character so much! Glad that it went well at the end of the season."

It is not certain whether Alyssa is dead. Given that Vera's powers are still gone and the season ended with Jack walking off carrying Alyssa's body and the Vade Maecum -- a powerful magical book --, it is possible that Alyssa will be resurrected -- or Jack would try his best to do so -- in the third season, should Netflix opt to renew the fantasy drama.

All episodes of Season 2 of 'The Order' are now streaming on Netflix.
