'The Old Guard': Meet Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne and rest of the cast of Netflix's latest superhero film
Netflix has a crazy new superhero film coming soon to the platform. 'The Old Guard' is a thrilling adaptation of the acclaimed graphic novel of the same name by Greg Rucka.
The movie stars an ensemble cast of actors led by Charlize Theron as Andy / Andromache of Scythia, an immortal warrior. Unless you've been living under a rock for the past decade, you probably recognize at least some of these names but let's still take a look at the movie's cast:
KiKi Layne as Nile Freeman
KiKi Layne is an American actress who is best known for her breakout performance in 2018's 'If Beale Street Could Talk'. In 'The Old Guard', Layne will be playing Nile Freeman, the latest addition to Andy's team of immortal soldiers.
Matthias Schoenaerts as Booker / Sebastian Le Livre
Schoenaerts is an award-winning Belgian actor, film producer, and graffiti artist. In the movie, he plays Booker, one of Andy's comrades and a soldier from the Napoleonic wars. He is basically Andy's right-hand man and like her, he is tortured by the pain of constantly losing everyone he cares about to the ravages of time while he lives on.
Marwan Kenzari as Joe / Yusuf Al-Kaysani
A Tunisian-Dutch actor and comedian, Kenzari has been involved in a number of high profile projects including the live-action 'Aladdin' movie, in which he played the villainous Jafar. His character in 'The Old Guard' is a soldier from the time of the Crusades who once fought the next person on this list before falling in love with him and joining Andy as another of her teammates.
Luca Marinelli as Nicky / Nicolo di Genova
Marinelli is an acclaimed Italian actor who has won awards for his roles in 2015's 'Don't Be Bad', the 2016 movie 'They Call Me Jeeg', 'Rainbow: A Private Affair' (2017), and 'Martin Eden' (2019). In 'The Old Guard', Marinelli plays Nicolo di Genova / Nicky, a soldier from the European side of the Crusades who was a bitter enemy of Joe's before they fell in love, discovered their immortality and became inseparable even after joining Andy as immortal warriors.
'The Old Guard' will be released on Netflix on July 10.
