'The Midnight Club' canceled by Netflix after Season 1 as Mike Flanagan signs deal with Amazon Studios
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Remember the song 'Midnight Memories' by One Direction? Looks like Mike Flanagan's 'The Midnight Club' on Netflix has become just that. The Netflix series has been pure joy for all horror genre fans. However, we have bad news for everyone waiting eagerly for 'The Midnight Club' to return. It has reportedly been confirmed that the spine-chilling series will not return for a second season.
The cancellation comes on the heels of executive producers Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy exiting their overall deal at Netflix for a new pact with Amazon Studios. Before the release of 'The Midnight Club', Flanagan was prepared for the idea it might not be renewed and told the press ahead of its premiere he would share his Season 2 plans if 'Midnight Club' was scrapped. However, another reason for it being scrapped might be its short-lived popularity on the 'Top 10' list of Netflix.

According to The Wrap, the supernatural thriller has been canceled by Netflix, mere hours after it was reported that series co-creator Flanagan, along and Macy have signed a production deal via their Intrepid Pictures with Amazon Studios.
The series was set in a hospice and follows eight terminally ill young adults who form 'The Midnight Club', meeting up each night to tell each other scary tales. It features an overarching story, while also frequently depicting those tales on screen.
The series stars Iman Benson, Adia, Igby Rigney, Ruth Codd, Aya Furukawa, Annarah Shephard, William Chris Sumpter, and Sauriyan Sapkota as the eight Midnight Club members, alongside Heather Langenkamp, Zach Gilford, Matt Biedel, and Samantha Sloyan as older adults working at or living near the hospice.
The series' most gaping mysteries included the secret behind Dr Stanton’s condition (is she terminal, herself?) and any possible connection to the Paragon cult, Shasta (aka Julia Jayne), and why the building’s original owners -- Stanley and Vera Freelan -- are seemingly haunting the hallways of Brightcliffe.
'The Midnight Club', which was released on October 7, 2023, consisted of 10 episodes, the first of which broke the world record for most jump scares in a TV episode. Instead of all the drama, the series met with a decent review from the critics. Furthermore, Flanagan and Tracy still have another project set at the streamer called 'The Fall of the House of Usher', which will offer a contemporary retelling of the eponymous Edgar Allan Poe story.
