Netflix's upcoming drama 'The Lost Daughter' is a movie that revolves around a woman who gets obsessed with a mother and daughter she meets on her beach vacation. The film which had its private screening had already earned rave reviews by critics so audiences can truly look forward to its worldwide release on the streaming site.

'The Lost Daughter' which has been adapted from the novel of the same name by Italian novelist Elena Ferrante boasts of a stellar cast who have added their brilliant essence to this captivating and unsettling tale. Dakota Johnson as Nina

Dakota Johnson is a popular American actress and model. The actress has had roots in acting since birth as she's the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith making her debut at the young age of 10 in 'Crazy in Alabama' alongside her mother. She initially was cast in minor roles in 'The Social Network', 'Beastly', 'For Ellen', and more while she also modeled on the side. A supporting role in '21 Jump Street' earned her more recognition but she broke international barriers when she bagged the lead role of Anastasia Steele in the erotic romance trilogy of 'Fifty Shades of Grey' in 2015.

Since her fame skyrocketed she has booked many more projects like 'The Peanutbutter Falcon, 'Bad Times at The El Royale', 'Suspiria' amongst others. Johnson will be portraying the lead character Nina, a mother in 'The Lost Daughter'.

Peter Sarsgaard as Professor Hardy

Peter Sarsgaard is a prominent American actor who entered the acting scene in 1995. Since then he has gone to star in many movies and television shows. His prominent works include his role in 'Boys Don't Cry' where he played a notorious killer which earned him critical recognition, his portrayal of Charles Lane in 'Shattered Glass', which won him the National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Supporting Actor and a nomination for the 2004 Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor.

The actor has amassed a diverse portfolio which includes 'Orphan', ' The Dying Gaul', ' Jarhead', 'Flightplan', and more. He is married to his close friend actorJake Gyllenhaal's sister, actor, and director Maggie Gyllenhaal and will star in her directorial debut movie as well.

Olivia Colman as Leda

Olivia Colman is a renowned English actress who continues to impress audiences with her work. Its been 20 years since she made her professional acting debut in 2000, at the age of 26, in the BBC2 comedy show 'Bruiser' and has since gone on to star in various diverse works such as ' The Office', ' Green Wing', ' The Lobster', 'Murder on the Orient Express' and more. Her roles in 'The Night Manager ' and 'The Crown' won her a Golden Globe Awards, while her portrayal of Anne, Queen of Great Britain in 'The Favourite' saw Colman win the Academy Award for Best Actress. She was most recently seen in HBO's true crime mini-series 'Landscapers'.

So far the impressive actress has numerous accolades to her name which total an Academy Award, four BAFTA Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, two Critics' Choice Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and the British Film Institute Fellowship. Colman will essay the lead character Leda in 'The Lost Daughter'.

The rest of the cast comprises Jessie Buckley (The Courier), Ed Harris (Westworld), Paul Mescal (Normal People), Dagmara Dominczyk (Succession), and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (The Haunting of Hill House).

'The Lost Daughter' is releasing on December 31, 2021, on Netflix.
