'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power': Benjamin Walker, who plays Gil-galad, reveals his FAVORITE episode
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fans can’t keep their calm as ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ is set to be released in a few days. The show will premiere across the globe on September 2, 2022, on Amazon Prime Video. The prequel saga is set in middle-earth's second age, so it has been conceptualized keeping in mind the glorious era of elves, dwarves, and Harfoots, almost thousands of years before novelist JRR Tolkien’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Hobbit’ books. Talking about the characters in the series, one of the most pivotal ones is that of the High King of Noldor, Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker). In a recent interview, noted actor Benjamin Walker revealed his favorite episode in the 'LOTR' prequel.
Opening up on one of his favorite episodes in the series in his recent interview with Collider, Walker said, “Probably the first one. Because it is the establishing episode where we’re learning the visual vocabulary of the series. Everyone’s just going to have this nervous release of going on this journey. It is the first step. After that just like in Tolkien’s books, it just cascades like a snowball.”

When asked about what he thinks is that one quality about the source material of the series that has resonated so much with people around the world for so long, Walker shared, “The quintessential conflict between good and evil. It’s something that I feel like Tolkien understood the inevitable rise of evil and the constant vigilance that is required to protect peace. That there’s never a moment of rest and that’s where progress exists in the friction between the two.”
Walker also spoke about how he is excited for viewers to witness the series. He said, “The amount of work that’s gone into it. What’s unique about how we’re doing it is that every episode is its own movie. The denseness of the text can be a little more faithfully transcribed to the screens so that you can be immersed in these worlds. The amount of work and detail that’s gone into it. Because of the nature of the format, you’re going to be able to really luxuriate it and get lost in it.”
The series has been re-adapted for screens by showrunners JD Payne and Patrick Mckay for Amazon Prime Video. The series is based on late author JRR Tolkien’s iconic book ‘The Lord of the Rings and its appendices’. ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ also stars Morfydd Clark (Galadriel), Robert Aramayo (Elrond), Charlie Vickers (Halbrand), Trystan Gravelle (Pharazon), Megan Richards (Poppy Proudfellow), Sara Zwangobani (Marigold Brandyfoot), Owain Arthur (Prince Durin IV), Charles Edwards (Celebrimbor), Daniel Weyman (The Stranger), Maxim Baldry (Isildur), Ismael Cruz Cordova (Arondir), Ema Horvath (Eärien), Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Queen Regent Míriel), Nazanin Boniadi (Bronwyn), Lenny Henry (Sadoc Burrows), Markella Kavenagh (Elanor 'Nori' Brandyfoot), Tyroe Muhafidin (Theo), Sophia Nomvete (Princess Disa), Lloyd Owen (Elendil), Dylan Smith (Largo Brandyfoot), and Leon Wadham (Kemen).
