'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power': Who is Daniel Weyman's 'The Stranger'?
Amazon Prime Video's 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' introduces some new characters in the mix, and one of them is 'Silent Witness' star Daniel Weyman's 'The Stranger'. While much of the details about the character was kept under wraps, fans were treated to a better reveal during this year's SDCC 2022. The character was said to have reportedly roped in to play a major role in the series.
During the SDCC, fans were shown an exclusive clip, where Poppy and Nori Harfoot find The Stranger in a crater, surrounded by fiery flames after a comet crashed near their home. The official logline reads, "Set thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, the series is based on author JRR Tolkien's history of Middle-earth. It begins during a time of relative peace and covers all the major events of Middle-earth's Second Age: the forging of the Rings of Power, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the fall of the island kingdom of Númenor, and the last alliance between Elves and Men. These events take place over thousands of years in Tolkien's original stories but are condensed for the series."

Who is Daniel Weyman's 'The Stranger' in 'The Rings of Power'?
As the name suggests, the people of Middle Earth encounter a stranger who calls himself Annatar. 'The Stranger' as he is better known comes bearing information on the forging of the rings and the magic that binds these rings which also determine the fate of the Middle Earth. Weyman himself shared his thoughts on the character to ScreenRant: "They were pretty clear at the beginning that what they were bringing me was a character who had, at his core, a really deep and primal purpose. He had a need to accomplish something; he had a desire to accomplish this thing. Once I began to tap into that, and feel that deep in the core, then other things flowed out of that.
He also added: "As much as we don't know about him, I think what we're going to do - if we can stay with him - is to see that the way that he impacts communities around him is going to be dramatic. We are going to learn and learn and learn, and finding out what exactly is going on might not be so quick."
'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' premieres September 1 on Amazon Prime Video.
