'The Lincoln Lawyer' Season 2: Which case will create the most trouble for Micky Haller in Netflix drama?
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: After Season 1 of ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ received thunderous applause from viewers and critics, Netflix is back with another season of the legal drama featuring the smooth-talking Los Angeles defense attorney Micky Haller. Adapted from Michael Connelly’s 2008 best-selling novel, ‘The Brass Verdict’, the first season depicted Mickey taking on the murder trial of Martha Renteria. The season eventually ended on a cliffhanger by introducing the real killer in the finale with the creators indicating that this plot line would continue into the second season.
However, this will not be the only case that Mickey gets his hands on. The second season is expected to take him on yet another complicated murder trial of a man named Mitchell Bondurant, who was a renowned and wealthy member of LA society. The second season is expected to tie a lot of loose ends from its predecessor while introducing a whole new case for Mickey to dive into, and given his acumen, the criminal defense attorney’s morality will be tested once again. The case that defines the events of Season 2 is taken from another Connelly book.
‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Season 2 is based on ‘The Fifth Witness’
'The Lincoln Lawyer' Season 2 is an adaptation of the fourth book in Connelly’s ‘Lincoln Lawyer’ series. The book, titled ‘The Fifth Witness’, will form the basis of the second season where Micky will be defending his long-standing client Lisa Trammel, who is accused of killing Mitchell, a rich and influential man in LA. Mickey, his ex-wife Lorna Taylor, his investigator and Lorna's husband Dennis "Cisco" Wojciechowski, will be up against Andrea Freeman, the opposing counsel who has never lost a case against Mickey. This raises the stakes for the entire season as Mickey will be up against a foe he has never defeated before.
However, as it happens with Mickey, he will soon learn that his client was indeed guilty, forcing him to go on a self-destructive spree until he decides the next step. Mickey’s focus will also be on finding Martha Renteria's real killer after proving Jesus Menendez’s innocence in Season 1. However, if the show stays true to its source material, Micky’s journey is about to become more tumultuous.
What did Manuel Garcia-Rulfo say about ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Season 2?
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo has enjoyed huge success after the release of Season 1 of Netflix’s legal drama. Speaking to Netflix about the character before the release of Season 2, Garcia-Rulfo said, “I think [the fame and success] has its good side and its bad side. He’s (Mickey) got this mojo back and his confidence back and all that, but I think that success brings a lot of bad stuff as well if you don't know how to handle it — and I think he wasn't ready for it.”
Season 2 will have 10 episodes and given that fans rooted for Haller’s cynicism in Season 1, it is expected that Season 2 will not be any different.
‘The Lincoln Lawyer' Season 2 Part 1 will be available to stream on July 6 on Netflix.
