‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Season 2 Episode 2: Mickey Haller dons his detective hat to nail Martha Renteria’s killer

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Mickey Haller has finally put Jesus Menendez’s case to bed. Menendez was accused of the murder of a sex worker named Martha Renteria, and Mickey puts in all his efforts to save Menendez after learning from Glory Days, one of Martha’s colleagues, that Menendez was not the killer.
Glory told Mickey that the man who had attempted to kill her was the same one who took Martha’s life. This killer had a black knife and a Japanese tattoo on his arm. Mickey understood that it was Russell Lawson, the same man who tricked him into defending him in the first episode of the second season.
However, in the second episode named ‘Obligations’, Mickey’s conundrum brought out his investigative side which he then used to nail Lawson and save Menendez once and for all. After a careful analysis of his situation with a friend, Mickey decided to use Glory to help nab Lawson. He put all his pawns in the right place and used Cisco, Maggie, and Detective Griggs to near perfection to execute his masterful plan to nail Lawson.
Mickey Haller’s masterful plan to catch Martha’s killer
Glory was arrested on the charge of possession of cocaine, but she gave away the details of the man who took her services. Even though, this was a man from the Tijuana cartel, Glory, on Mickey’s instructions, gave away the facial details of Lawson. Mickey then called in for favor of his ex-wife Maggie to help Glory escape prison time in exchange for revealing the location of the cartel man. Mickey also asked for protection for Glory from Maggie, and Detective Griggs came in handy. With everything set, Glory reached home and Lawson attacked her for revealing his identity to the police.
But Detective Griggs and company were standing watch. They nabbed Lawson and Glory identified him as the one who attacked her previously and is Martha’s true killer.
Mickey, who was earlier in a conflict about representing Lawson as he had paid a retainer fee to his firm, was free to fully help Menendez gain acquittal in Martha Renteria’s murder case. Mickey’s master plan worked as he ensured that nothing blows back on him. Lawson is finally in prison for the murder of Martha and Jesus is free of all charges. Mickey is a happy man who got what he wanted but as one case withered away, another sprung to life.
Mickey’s fling Lisa Trammell accused of murder
Lisa, who first met Mickey in her restaurant in the previous episode, will require all the help she needs from LA’s best defense attorney as she has just been accused of the murder of real estate developer Mitchell Bondurant. Lisa was already fighting a restraining order against Mitchell which Mickey knew about, but murder is as serious as Mickey’s life can get. He’s shocked on hearing that Lisa has been arrested, and for now the focus of Mickey’s life entirely falls on another high-profile case involving a woman he seems to be falling for.
