Netflix is adding 'The Liberator' to its animated genre. The animated series is based on author Alex Kershaw’s non-fiction novel titled 'The Liberator: One World War II Soldier’s 500-Day Odyssey'. Season 1 of the series is set to premiere on this year's Veteran's Day and follows the 57th regiment from Sicily to Germany. Here is all you need to know about the streamers' upcoming release.

Plot

The synopsis reads: "The four-part World War II animated series (using new patent-pending Trioscope Enhanced Hybrid Animation) is based on Alex Kershaw's 2013 book of the same name about US Army officer Felix Sparks and the 157th Infantry Regiment from Oklahoma that included cowboys, Native Americans and Mexican-Americans as they invaded Italy and freed those at the Dachau concentration camp."

James is a British-American actor known for his roles as Damien Thorn in 'Damien' (2016), Arthur in 'Merlin' (2008-2012) and Varga in 'Underworld: Blood Wars' (2016). His recent recognizable works include 'Homeland' (2014), 'iZombie' (2015), 'Bounty Hunters' (2017) and 'Medici' (2018-2019). In 2010, he was nominated for a Golden Nymph at the Monte-Carlo TV Festival for Outstanding Actor - Drama Series for 'Merlin' (2008). 

The rest of the cast includes Martin Sensmeier as Sergeant Samuel Coldfoot, Jose Miguel Vasquez as Corporal Able Gomez, Ross Anderson as Captain Scott, Billy Breed as Vince Vaccaro, Finney Cassidy as Michigan, David Elliot as General Robert Frederick, Sam Gittins as Garnett 'Junior' Bullock, Kiowa Gordon as Corporal Kanuna, Bryan Hibbard as Joe Hallowell and many more

Creators

The series is directed by Grzegorz Jonkajtys with Alex Kershaw and Jeb Stuart, who is known for his work in 'Die Hard' and 'The Fugitive', serving as writers. Mark Apen, LC Crowley, Jonkajtys, Michael Lynne, Stuart, Sarah Victor, Natalia Lasota and Robert Shaye serve as executive producers. 'The Liberator' was developed by Jonkajtys with School of Humans’ LC Crowley.
