Might contain spoilers for season 1 pilot episode of 'The L Word: Generation Q' titled 'Let's Do It Again'

'The L Word' franchise made its come back to television screens with 'The L Word: Generation Q' after a decade. Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig and Leisha Hailey return to the sequel reprising their roles of Bette Porter, Shane McCutcheon and Alice Pieszecki respectively.

And this time around, they are not alone in their journey anymore. As Bette is running for Mayor of  Los Angeles while keeping her ideals and values intact, she is also looking after her teenage daughter Angelica (Jordan Hull).

Speaking of parenting, Alice is learning to balance co-parenting with her fiancee Nat (Stephanie Allynne) and her ex-wife Gigi (Sepideh Moafi). She also has to deal with the ever-increasing popularity of her talk show.

At the same time, in the first episode, Los Angeles welcomes back Shane after she suffers a personal setback. And while the first episode doesn't delve into the backstory, we will obviously get to know more of it.

For an entire generation that remembers the show fondly and how it shaped their formative years, it was a comeback worth rejoicing. "I’m so pleasantly surprised by this episode! I’ve developed the learned helplessness that all reboots just massacre the original, but I thought this was a good kind of fresh."

"After watching this ep, the main feeling is: my heart is full, and that’s quite telling. The L Word ended 10 years ago, and between then & now we have been given scraps. 10 years later and queer women are STILL starved for rep. Thank god it’s back," said a fan.

Those who held the show close and dear once upon a time, hope that 'The L Word: Generation Q' does justice to its predecessor. "The L Word was so meaningful to me and my journey & now I’m about to watch this reboot. I hope they do better bi us."

Many are glad that the show has returned with its signature shenanigans. "If the new L Word’s opening scene didn’t make my roommate walk out into the living room thinking I was watching porn then it wouldn’t have been the L Word." The pilot episode of the sequel opened with a cunnilingus scene between new characters Dani (Arienne Mandi) and Sophie (Rosanny Zayas).

Others have some really serious questions following the premiere. "Unanswered The L Word: Generation Q questions - does anyone actually get horny the *day* they get their period? - who the f**k married Shane?!? - is Bette’s daughter gay? - who rides their bike down Sunset Blvd? - is blonde Shane gonna move in with OG Shane? - why is Shane rich?"

At the same time, fans of the original show hope that this time around, the makers will bring back characters from the original show, especially since a lot of the stories were left unfinished. "Sooo lemme give my input gonna L-word new episode today they better bring back more people from the old show or tell us more to what happened," noted a fan.

All in all, the show returned to fans old and new with the same vigor it once had. Now it remains to be seen if they can sustain it going forward.

'The L Word: Generation Q' airs on Sundays at 10/ 9c on Showtime.
