As if claiming that he was from a parallel universe wasn't enough to make him a suspicious figure in the eyes of Detective Jang Tae-eul (Kim Go-eun), Lee Gon (Lee Min-ho) now tells her that he can stop time as well. The former claims in 'The King: Eternal Monarch' had already led to Tae-eul believing that Lee Gon was suffering some kind of mental illness. Who would really believe that he is the king in a parallel universe and traveled through a gate in the middle of a bamboo forest because of a broken flute?

Now, in the promo of episode 3, we see how Lee Gon comes to a realization that he is also capable of stopping time. Accompanying this power of his is an indescribable pain that Lee Gon suffers and its root cause is something that Lee Gon will have to figure out now. Technically, we knew that inter-universe travelers can stop time. We saw Lee Gon's murderer uncle, Lee Lim, control and manipulate time. However, he did not seem to face any side effects of pain because of the same.

The promo also shows Lee Gon standing in front of the door to the other universe by himself and think that he had left his position vacant for far too long in the other universe. Just when you begin to consider if he is going to leave, there is another scene of Lee Gon standing in the same spot but this time he is with Tae-eul. He might have brought her along with him to prove that he is indeed from another universe. However, the door doesn't seem to appear in front of her and she only gets more confused by all that Lee Gon claims about himself and his life back in the other universe.

Meanwhile, the palace is in chaos after Lee Gon disappeared without a word and no one is able to guess where he went this time. For now, the Chief Court Lady and Lee Gon's cousin believe that he had abandoned his spot for a breath of fresh air. He has done this in the past, and that is exactly what people in the palace expect of him now too. However, Lee Gon's chief security personnel Jo Yeong is quite worried about his friend. The forlorn look in his eyes as he sees the King's chair in his study will surely elicit more fans who ship his bromance with Lee Gon in the future.

'The King: Eternal Monarch' is originally aired in South Korea on SBS at 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The show can be streamed on Netflix in the U.S.
