'The Good Place' Season 4 Episode 9: Chidi is humanity's only hope but he needs to get back with Eleanor
'The Good Place' Season 4 has seen Chidi (Willian Jackson Harper) save the day in many ways - first, by opting to erase his memory to protect the sanctity of the experiment, then by inspiring Simone (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) to treat the people in the neighborhood kindly, by helping Jason (Manny Jacinto) keep his supposed secret a secret while teaching him to be a better person, along with the intolerable Brent (Ben Koldyke), whom he gave chance after chance to do and be better. However, never has humanity depended on Chidi as much as it does now.
In the most recently aired Season 4 Episode 8 of 'The Good Place', we saw the Judge (Maya Rudolph) ruling that Earth needs to get restarted, after learning that the point system is doing an injustice to the human souls and that Earth is too complex a place for people to be categorized into good or bad, or even deeds into good deeds and bad deeds.
Despite Michael (Ted Danson) and Eleanor's (Kristen Bells) repeated suggestions to not go ahead with that plan, Judge seemed to want to do it, and the fate of humanity went right back to being doomed - until Eleanor had the brilliant idea to wake Chidi up and use his brain to come up with a plan that would help determine who belongs to the Good Place and who belongs to the Bad Place.
We are hoping for Chidi to be woken up from his frozen state when Season 4 Episode 9 premieres on Thursday, November 21, so that he can help the Judge and other celestial beings in creating a new rule book. After all, he has dedicated his entire life to studying ethics and becoming a good human. However, before any of that can happen we want him to get his memory restored and get back together with Eleanor.
Despite the heartbreak of watching Chidi kiss another woman and think of her as his soulmate for an entire year, Eleanor persevered to get the best result out of the experiment, and she deserves to be back with him. They have both sacrificed a lot for the sake of humanity, and they need to reconcile before Chidi is forced to take on admittedly the herculean task of deciding a new point system.
