'The Good Place' Season 4 Episode 3: Will Eleanor's resentment and bitterness about Chidi-Simone relationship disrupt the experiment?
It is difficult to find the love of your life and sacrifice that love for the sake of humanity. It is even worse to be the person left behind, knowing that your boyfriend's sacrifice is too great for you to be angry with, and to top that off, he doesn't remember you and believes that his ex-girlfriend is his soulmate. I certainly would not want to be post-death good Eleanor (Kristen Bell) who is in charge of the human point system experiment for sure.
Our girl from Arizona, however, is doing a great job despite everything she is going through, but how long can she hold on? In the last episode, we saw her "screwing the pooch," causing an alarm among Tahani (Jameela Jamil) and Janet (D'Arcy Carden) enough to call a secret meeting with Michael (Ted Danson) and question her leadership. However, with some sharp thinking, she solved some of Team Humans' problems.
She had wanted to keep Chidi (William Jackson Harper) and Simone (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) as far apart from each other as possible, but seeing that she was being self-serving in doing so, she asked her ex-boyfriend to help his ex-girlfriend be a better human at the fake Good Place, explaining to him they are soulmates and her good behavior is partly his responsibility. Now, we do not know how this plan works out yet, but we have a feeling that Chidi is going to be a great "soulmate" for Simone, especially since they were a great couple on earth and the only reason they broke up was because he found out he was already technically dead and part of a bigger plan.
Although it was Eleanor's plan, this may not sit well with her, because, well, she may be a good human but she is still a human. She obviously still loves Chidi and they of course, only broke up to protect the sanctity of the experiment. We wonder if she would build resentment and bitterness in response to Chidi and Simone getting closer on the fake Good Place, and somehow "screw the pooch" again. It remains to be seen.
