'The Flash' Season 6 Episode 10 Preview: 'Marathon' may introduce Spyral as the big bad for team Flash

Life on Earth-Prime post 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' is different. Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) and Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) are still coping with the new world and the astonishingly unbelievable changes, except for the Legends, who're pretty happy to take what's in store for them at the moment. The focus now shifts to Grant Gustin's Barry Allen/The Flash as the world waits to see how he deals with life after the multiverse-shattering battle. Last we saw, he was in the 'Arrow' finale paying his respects to Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell).

The final minutes of 'Crisis' saw Barry set up the hall of Justice, call it the start of the Justice League and in a way, the move also establishes the Scarlet Speedster as the rightful leader of the gang of superheroes. That 'The Flash' was the second Arrowverse show to be introduced is just another reason why Barry could take on a leadership role. However, what's interesting is The CW's official synopsis for the upcoming episode, "Marathon'.

The synopsis reads: “The Flash” Season 6, Episode 10 “Marathon”: LIFE AFTER THE CRISIS — After The Citizen prints an explosive story, Iris’s (Candice Patton) life is threatened. Refusing to hide from those that are attacking her, Iris sets out to expose a dangerous organization. Meanwhile, Barry (Grant Gustin) must face the consequences of the Crisis and fulfill Oliver Queen’s wish for him. Stefan Pleszczynski directed the episode written by Sam Chalsen & Lauren Barnett." And preview images show David Ramsey's John Diggle making an appearance in the episode.

Iris getting some screentime is probably a welcome change. The storyline of Barry and his death in the 'Crisis' was seen majorly in the first half of the series except for the filler episodes revolving around Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) and Ralph Dibny (Hartley Sawyer). With 'Marathon' centering around Iris, we could expect to see Allegra Garcia (Kayla Compton). As far as the speculations go regarding the secret organization, fans have theorized it to be Spyral.

Spyral, in the comics, has a bit of history and a connection to Leviathan, the mysterious organization that has played a crucial role in the ongoing season of 'Supergirl'. Fandom has a comprehensive description for the Spyral which reads" "Spyral is a UN covert operations agency founded during the Cold War. Its original head, Agent Zero, decided to avoid getting involved in politics and rather than recruiting from among the espionage services of NATO or Warsaw Pact countries, instead recruited rebels: iconoclastic daredevils and rogue geniuses and got them to use their mental and physical gifts to serve the agency."

Only time will tell if this is the big bad team Flash will face post-'Crisis'.

'The Flash' airs Tuesdays 8 pm ET/PT on The CW.
