'The Flash' Season 6: Amunet's return on Valentine's Day was a welcome move

It was the Valentine Day episode of 'The Flash' from Season 6, and The CW show leaned into it hard. Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton) tried to enjoy a little romantic time together at a fancy restaurant, just before Amunet (Katie Sackhoff) showed up and ruined all their plans (and everyone else's Valentine's plans, if you please).

Poor Barry. You would think that the guy deserves a bit of a break after saving the world from the multiversal Crisis.

While the episode was a peculiar one, Amunet's return was a welcome one. She's here to steal tech hardware, so that she can make off with a flower that allows people to read minds. Barry and Iris try to stop her, but uh oh, she knows his identity as the Flash, and threatens to expose him.

Amunet is so deliciously wacky and crazy that she brought a new flavor to the otherwise rather pale episode. We saw her last in Season 4's 'Harry And The Harrisons', where she teamed up with Team Flash. Sackhoff was determined to make more of a colorful splash here and it was perfection. 

There's only so much patience one has when watching Caitlyin Snow give Allegra some boy advice and build on her confidence. Barry hasn't figured out that Iris is not Iris. How he hasn't managed to do so, that's still a mystery. This new Iris speaks Italian and cooks extremely well. Take a hint, Barry.

Coming back to Amunet, her plans are foiled as her ex-lover, Goldface, is on the same heist. While fighting about the stolen tech, the unresolved issues between the two come up and it turns out that they still have feelings for each other. They start discussing who should keep custody of their record collection. It's weird and bizarre, but this actually is the most enjoyable part of the episode. Iris bursts the perfume of the mind-reading flower over them, and the two start canoodling again. 

Amunet is a work of art. If only she was kept around more often.
